I wouldn't recomend turrents on fast ships, like escorts, since it's easy to quickly turn to get your target back within your weapons' firing arcs. But on slower ships, like cruisers, that have a painful turn speed, a turrent mounted on the back of you ship can help slowly wear down an enemy shields since it has a 360° firing arc. Personally I like a turret or two on an escort in the rear facing slot(s), as it increases the number of cannon shots you can fire forward, and means you're constantly doing damage even while bringing your forward weapons to bear. You have to be careful of the power drain they incur, but I find them more useful on escorts than I do on slower ships like cruisers which are better off with more beam arrays for the best possible broadside. -- Haravikk 11:05, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Auto-Fire?[]

Do turrets automatically engage small craft and targetable torpedoes? I've sometimes noticed my turrets firing off at odd angles but I've been unable to decide conclusively if they're firing automatically at something or if it's just some kind of visual glitch. -- Haravikk 11:12, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
