These system descriptions, added in Season Three: Genesis are seen upon approach in sector space. They are meant to offer some background to the peoples, events, and history that occurred in the vicinity. They will generally (but not always) appear if you have a mission in that system or can otherwise enter it.

Andoria System[ | ]
A moon with an oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere orbiting a ringed gas giant, Andoria is one of the founding worlds of the Federation and home to almost one billion inhabitants.
Most Andorian settlements are underground and connected by thousands of kilometers of tunnels. However, a portion of the Northern Wastes has been set aside as a public area for visitors to the planet to enjoy its frozen beauty.

Trace amounts of xenon in the atmosphere make this planet uncomfortable to most Federation lifeforms, but pergium deposits have attracted some hardy individuals who are willing to brave the inhospitable environment for financial gain or freedom from restrictive regulations.

A larger planet with a dense atmosphere comprised of carbon dioxide and argon, Bhea is notable for the large amount of fog and fierce storms that sweep over the land masses.

Kei System[ | ]
A system with three planets orbiting a K-class dwarf star. A small mining colony is located on the third planet, which has significant borite deposits.
P'Jem System[ | ]
A small M-class planet, P'Jem was originally settled by Vulcan monks more than 3,000 years ago. Although the original monastery was destroyed during the Vulcan-Andorian conflicts in the 22nd century, the buildings were rebuilt by a coalition of Humans, Andorians and Vulcans after the founding of the United Federation of Planets.

A ringed, M-Class world orbited by a large moon, Pellme is home to more than 47,000 colonists, most of whom live in the temperate areas near the planet's equator. The planet's northern continent is crossed by several large faults, and the Federation has installed a series of seismic stabilizers to protect the planet's population.

An O-class planet surrounded by a thick asteroid belt, Pico was thought to be uninhabited until several species of aquatic lifeforms were discovered by the U.S.S. Archer.

Sol System[ | ]
A system with eight planets orbiting a G-class star, Sol is the heart of the Federation. Starfleet Command is located on Earth, the system's third planet, as is the seat of Federation government. The system is also home to Earth Spacedock and the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on Mars.
S.S. Azura[ | ]
Civilian ships such as the S.S. Azura are essential to trade and the transport of goods in the Federation. Lightly armed and with minimal defenses, these ships depend on Starfleet to keep space safe as they ferry goods and passengers across the quadrant.

The second planet in the 40 Eridani star system, Vulcan orbits the primary K-class star, as do two smaller stars. It is a harsh desert world, with many active volcanoes and towering mountain ranges. Its atmosphere is thin and the gravity on Vulcan is higher than that of Earth. The Vulcans have adapted to this harsh world, developing great strength and endurance.

A red dwarf star, Wolf 359 was the site of the first large-scale engagement between Starfleet and the Borg in 2367. Of the 40 vessels that engaged one Borg cube, 39 were destroyed. There is now a memorial for the approximately 11,000 people who died in the conflict.

Kinjer Prime was destroyed more than 6000 years ago when the core of its sun collapsed. The system is near several trade routes, but the planetary debris field is a hazard to navigation, and the kinoplasmic radiation in the area can adversely affect computer and navigation systems. Most freighter and transport captains make a point of avoiding the system.

A star system on the edge of the Paulson Nebula, this system is considered a hazard to starship navigation. The high levels of magnesium and chromium hinder sensor operation, and enemy ships have been known to hide in the nebula to prey upon unwary transports.

An M-class world, Reytan's vast deserts have long been of interest to Federation scientists. The populated areas of the planet receive more than 27 hours of sunlight a day, and temperatures plummet during the short nights.

One of the closest starbases to the neutral zone between Federation and Klingon Empire space, Starbase 24 is essential to Starfleet's war plans. A research team on the station is developing new weapons, and the station's staff is busy around the clock treating wounded and repairing battle-damaged ships.
The station was where survivors of the Khitomer Massacre were taken in 2346, and it still holds a historical archive of records and artifacts related to the event.

Una System[ | ]
Una II is home to more than 256,000 Federation colonists. The colonists prize their agrarian, simple lifestyles, even going so far as to reject common devices, such as replicators and holotechnology. Starfleet maintains a resupply station in the area, both to service passing vessels and to protect the colonists.

Astronomers have theorized that the thick asteroid belt surrounding this planet may be the remains of another planet. Te cores of the larger asteroids have significant amounts of nickel, iron and magnesium. Starships in the area are warned that maneuvering near these asteroids may be difficult.

This world was once inhabited by a highly industrial society. Little was done when pollution began to damage the ecosystem, and when the vast forests that once covered the southern continent were destroyed to make room for more growth, the resulting greenhouse effect raised average temperatures by more than 10 degrees over a 200-year period.

Gamma Orionis Transwarp Conduit[ | ]
This transwarp gateway extends to the Gamma Orionis Sector Block. Because Gamma Orionis is at the heart of the Fedeartion's conflict with the Borg, Starfleet Command has restricted access. Only ships working with Battle Group Omega are permitted to use this corridor.

A ringed gas supergiant, Koolhaas has a hydrogen-astatine atmosphere with traces of ammonia. There is water in the lower layer of clouds, with methane in the upper layers. Wind speeds can reach more than 300 meters per second.

Imaga was once a troubled world plagued by tribal warfare. The conflicts came to a head in the late 22nd century, when an attack on a colony located on Imaga II cracked the planet to its core and killed more than 250,000 residents.
Shaken by the tragedy, the Imagans settled their differences and built a pacifist society. Imaga was occupied by Son'a forces in the late 2360s, but they were forced to retreat from the planet a decade later.

Omar System[ | ]
A ringed, Class F world, Omar has planetary conditions similar to planets populated by silicon-based lifeforms. The deep series of seismic faults in the equatorial region is known as "The Scar". Automated systems are used to mine the rich veins of deuterium and dilithium present on the planet and in the surrounding asteroid field.

Originally a rain-soaked world covered by jungles and plagued by seismic instability, Risa was transformed by technology into a pleasure planet that is considered to be one of the jewels of the Federation. Risians are renowned throughout the quadrant for their hospitality and liberal attitudes.

A class O world, Tazi is home to approximately 4.6 million inhabitants. The Tazani government permitted a Federation research station to be launched into orbit in 2396, and the close cooperation between the crew there and the Tazani Science Ministry is believed to be one of the key factors that prompted the Tazani to petition for Federation membership in 2408. The application is pending.

A Federation colony world with approximately 250,000 inhabitants. Its main exports are bilitrium, gallicite, and Tammeron grain. Of interest to scientists and explorers is the wild Finas region, which is known for its unusual flora, towering mountains, and volcanic formations.

The presence of antichronoton particles in this system has lead some scientists to theorize that the Maro system was the site of a major temporal event.

A Federation colony world with more than 26,000 inhabitants. Last year, a survey team discovered ruins believed to be from the time of the Tkon Empire on Tostig II. A new Federation research station is being constructed for a long-term study of the site.

The six planetoids of this system were destroyed in 2315 when the main star of the trinary star system went supernova. The Federation and several private interests mine the remains of the planetoids for valuable minerals, including noranium, topaline and tricyanate.

A binary star system with seven planets, the Celes system is the home of Starbase 114. Commander Cleveland has been tasked with fighting the influence of the Orion Syndicate in the Celes Sector. An unusual "triple planet" configuration marks the Hana system, with three worlds that were in close orbit around twin Class-F stars. One of these stars went nova in 2166, and the resulting explosion devastated Hana Prime. Several mining outposts have been built near the core of the blasted world.

Mandel Prime is a Class-I supergiant orbiting a Class-K star. It is less then six parsecs from a major Regulan trade route, and raiders have begun using the planet as a gathering and resupply location. The Veela system has been controlled by forces loyal to the Orion Syndicate for decades. Since the outbreak of war with the Klingon Empire, Starfleet is dedicating more resources to pacifying the outlaw elements that have made the system their home.

Zenik Colony was founded in 2402, and now boasts more than 22,000 residents. The colony is in the temperate eastern continent, and many residents are involved in the cultivation of quadratritacle. The arid southern continent is noted for it's unusual rock formations. The colonists have installed a series of sensors to gather more data about their new home.

A Federation colony world with more than 4.7 million residents, the Sardah Academy of Cosmology is famed throughout the Federation, as are the volcanic lakes of Sardah's Ulpek province.

Although the two worlds are not technically twin planets, the trajectory of their orbits and the composition of their atmospheres share some properties with Romulus and Remus. JFS47 is an area of deep space first chartered by the Human astronomer J. Walker Montgomery in 2256. Later Starfleet surveys confirmed Montgomery's assertion that there is a stellar nursery in the region.

A system with twin planets orbiting a Class-B dwarf star. Kalferi II, the smaller of the twins, is a Class N world with a thick layer of methane ice on the surface. Kalferi I is a large gas giant. Astronomers predict that the surface temperature of Kalferi II will continue to increase until it collapses sometime in the next 10,000 years.

Korvat Colony was the site of negotiations between the Federation and the Klingon Empire in 2289. Although the talks to end the cold war between the two powers were unsuccessful, they laid the groundwork for more serious negotiations years later after the destruction of the Klingon moon Praxis.

What began as a small colony on Maiewski Prime in the late 23rd century has expanded to more than 3.4 million residents in six cities. The world is known for its innovations in replicator technology, and some of the finest industrial replicators in the Federation are created here.

A M-class world orbited by a M-class planetoid, the surface of Ceron is made up of a series of large islands surrounded by stormy seas. A series of surveillance arrays in this system are directed at the nearby Qu'Vat Sector to track the movements of Klingon Empire vessels. Increased traffic around Rura Penthe is a concern to Starfleet Intelligence.
H'atoria System[ | ]
A Klingon colony world with more than 3.2 million inhabitants, Klingons make up the majority of residents, with Nausicaans being the dominate minority group. Average surface temperatures are more than 20 degrees lower than averages on Qo'noS, and snow is common throughout half of the solar year. Worf, son of Mogh, was briefly governor of the colony world in the 2390s.

A vast asteroid field surrounded by Class 2 nebulas, the Lilitu system has become a haven for the Orion Syndicate. Proximity to both trade routes and friendly Klingon colony worlds make it a safe and profitable place for raiders to use as a base. The M'rade system is comprised of twin gas giants orbiting a Class-B star and a much smaller dwarf star. Theta radiation levels are high enough to affect starship systems, and caution should be used when piloting smaller vessels such as shuttlecraft in the area.

A M-class world with two moons orbiting a Class-G yellow star. Danteri was colonized by the Ferengi in 2343. The world now has a thriving group of traders, and competition between them can be fierce. Mercenaries and raiders looking for work can often find it here.

A ringed, Class-S ultragiant, Kern III has a diameter of 47,000 km. Its average surface temperature is 220 degrees Kelvin, with a surface comprised of hydrogen compounds. Water vapor has been detected near the poles.

Hundreds of people have settled at the Laurentian Colony for the pleasant weather and abundant employment opportunities. The quadratanium that the system produces is essential for replicators and holotechnology. The increase in photonic lifeforms and holocrew for starships has made a steady flow of quadratanium even more important.

A Class-I supergiant surrounded by an asteroid belt with high amounts of topaline and pergium. Janus Mining and Planetary Supply has established a series of collectors in orbit around the planet to gather hydrogen-astatine compounds from the surface.
Trimble System[ | ]
A ringed, Class-M world, Trimble shares many properties with Vulcan, including its vast deserts. A thick layer of clouds keeps the average surface temperature about 15 degrees cooler than temperatures in Vulcan's Forge, however, and snow in the mountains is common.

There are more than 20 micronebulas in the Xarantine system, at least three of which contain protomatter. Because of this, the system has frequently been contested, and was occupied by Jem'Hadar forces during the Dominion War.

The Acamar system consists of three planets orbiting binary Class A stars. Acamar III is the home of the Acamarians.

They put aside their feuds in the 23rd century, but it wasn't until 2368 that Jean-Luc Picard was able to negotiate a peace settlement that reunited the Acamarians with the Gatherers, a group of off-world nomads who had refused to be a part of earlier settlements.

There are four planets in this system, including the M-class Carraya IV, which until the 2390s was home to several Romulan military installations and off-limits to all civilian traffic except authorized supply ships. Reports that there was once a prison camp on Carraya IV remain unconfirmed.
In 2404, the House of Martok used its considerable political pressure to block a proposed Klingon colony slated for Carraya IV. Since then, the planet has dropped off of Empire plans for expansion.

The Japori system is comprised of six planets orbiting a Class F star with a magnitude of +5, which is the same brightness as Sol. Of the six planets, only Japori II is M-Class. The neutral world has become a haven for traders wanting to do business with both the Klingons and the Federation in a region subject to the laws of neither.

The Jouret system was once the site of New Providence, a Federation colony with more than 900 inhabitants. In 2366, the colony was destroyed by a Borg attack, an assault so complete that the colony itself was "scooped" of the planet, leaving behind a massive crater.

Beta Lankal System[ | ]
Beta Lankal is a Class F star with a magnitude of +5. It is most notable for its use as a gathering spot for Klingon forces loyal to Gowron during the Klingon Civil War in 2368. After Gowron's fleet suffered a major defeat at the hands of the House of Duras, the survivors fell back to Beta Lankal to regroup. Gowron's second offensive, after the House of Duras had been abandoned by their Romulan allies, was a complete victory.

A red dwarf star orbited by three distant planets, Beta Thoridor is best known as a navigational mark for pilots in the region. The planets of the Beta Thoridor system are not habitable and have no known deposits of useable materials. With the expansion of Romulan and Reman activity in this area of space, it is likely that expeditions will be sent to this system again to look for anything of value to the colony.
New Romulus System[ | ]
Records indicate that the colony ships that left Vulcan after the Sundering spent several months on this planet. Mostly abandoned since then, this M-class world is now the home of New Romulus, a colony made of Romulans and Remans seeking to create a new society and a new homeworld.
Radiation levels and seismic instability on the planet indicate that there was a world-wide cataclysmic event in the world's distant past. It will take more study to determine exactly what happened.

Starbase 234 System[ | ]
A Federation starbase critical because of its location near Romulan and Klingon space, Starbase 234 was the site where the U.S.S. Enterprise-D and other vessels retreated to after the outbreak of civil war on Qo'noS in late 2367. A task force made up of vessels at the starbase and in close proximity later made up a blockade that prevented Romulan forces from supplying the House of Duras with materials they needed to continue the war.

Archer System[ | ]
The Archer system is actually the second star system to have planets named for famed human explorer Jonathan Archer. The first, which is located in the 61 Ursae Majoris system, was the first M-class planet explored by the crew of the starship Enterprise in 2151.
In 2222, a venture company seeking to attract more settlers to the system named it Archer and flooded newsnets with advertisements calling for "real explorers". Several hundred people answered the call, and a small, unaffiliated colony was founded on Archer IV.

A geologically unstable, uninhabitable planet, Galorndon Core orbits a Class K star with a magnitude of +7. The planet is beset by constant electromagnetic storms that interfere with sensors and transporters. A space station originally built by the Cardassian occupation forces in orbit of Bajor, DS9 was surrendered to Federation administration in 2369. It became one of the most important strategic posts in Starfleet after the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole, and the station was moved to the mouth of the wormhole itself.

Minos Korva is one of the Federation worlds that the Cardassian Union attempted to conquer in the Federation-Cardassian War of the 24th century. Many of the planet's 2 million residents evacuated during the Dominion War, but the population rebounded after the Treaty of Bajor was signed. Now more than 1.6 million people live on the world. The Federation Science Council maintains a research station on the planet.

Access to TRD 071944 is restricted by order of Starfleet Command. Starfleet vessels are ordered to avoid the region unless there is a clear and present danger to civilians by other Starfleet vessels. Vessels must notify Starfleet Command of their intentions before entering the region.

Enocha Prime is a C-Class planet with a diameter of 17,047 km. It has a highly inclined orbit that takes it more than 4.4 billion kilometers from Alpha Enocha 66. The surface is covered with methane ice, and there are trace amounts of nitrogen and carbon monoxide. Core samples have revealed that more than 47 percent of the planet's mass is ice.

The Orias system has six planets. Of those worlds, one is M-Class. Orias III is uninhabited, and for decades was used by the Obsidian Order for training exercises and as a detention site. In 2371, the order used the system as the location of a fleet intended to enter the Gamma Quadrant and attack the Founders' homeworld. The attack failed, and the Obsidian Order ships were destroyed by a Jem'Hadar counterattack.

Phi II is a ringed, Class-G planet. Its surface is covered with crystalline shards of sulfite compounds, and the atmosphere is a mix of carbon dioxide and hydrogen. Mec VI was a Cardassian colony world that was ceded to Bajoran control in the Treaty of Bajor. In 2402, the Bajoran government signed an agreement with the Ferengi Tourism Commission to develop the islands of Mec VI as a pleasure resort and casino. Construction is due to be completed in 2411.

Mryax 40 is a Class B dwarf star with an internal core temperature of 28,000 degrees Kelvin. The star was used for the first tests of Starfleet multiphasic shielding. Starfleet now requires that multiphasic shielding on starships be able to withstand temperatures of 37,500 degrees Kelvin.

The three planets of the Vestalan system are clustered around the Starburst Nebula. Vestalan Prime was a candidate for colonization before the Dominion War, but plans were abandoned after the outbreak of hostilities. The homeworld of the peaceful Deferi, Defera is a ringed, M-Class world with a population of approximately 3.8 billion. Deferi value the Balance of being close to nature, and many will work in cities but have homes in nearby forests or mountain ranges.

Deferi Outpost 3 is an orbital station built by the Deferi to service and supply colony ships on their way to the worlds in the Kelvani Belt. The largest of the Deferi space stations, Outpost 3 has a population of 450 people, with an additional 20 miners living on ships permanently assigned to collecting the ore from outlying asteroids.

Manek Prime is an L-Class world that was populated approximately 25,000 years ago. Ruins linked to the Preservers have been found on the planet. The Federation Archaeology Council has requested permission to survey the surface of Manek III as well, but the remains of that world have been deemed too dangerous for an away mission.

VZA-4001 is an unihabited star system. The three planets of the system were destroyed approximately 5,200 years ago, when one of the two stars in the system collapsed, creating a black hole. The gravitational pull from the black hole was at an angle form the planets, and the gravitational shear tore the planets apart. The area is on the major trade route for the Defera Sector.

The Kelvani Belt is the main source of income for off-world Deferi, and the metals and ores harvested there are being sold throughout the quadrant by Deferi and Ferengi brokers.

An unclaimed system with three planets in orbit of a Class-F star. Lae'nas III is a M-Class world known for the volcanic mountains on the southern continent. The climate of the southern continent is very similar to prehistoric Defera, and the Deferi Science Council has been studying the climate and flora here for decades.

The Raveh system is a binary system with a blue dwarf star in orbit of a much larger Class B star. Light from two stars should make Raveh II much warmer than it actually is, but a thick layer of theta radiation in the upper atmosphere reflects much of the energy from the stars, keeping average surface temperatures on the planet low. More than 70 percent of the landmass of Raveh II is covered with snow and ice for the majority of the solar year.

S'hinga Prime is a L-class world with a diameter of 13,447 kilometers. It has an atmosphere of oxygen and argon compounds, with a high percentage of carbon dioxide. Primitive flora and single-cell organisms have been found on scans of the surface.

Alpha Zaria 30 is a hot G-class star that is very similar to the star at the center of the Sol system. However, it was not always so. The star was a cooler Class-K star in the early 22nd century.
Deferi scientists believe that the neutral metals in the core of the star came in contact with a source of protomatter, igniting the star and increasing its core temperature significantly. The resulting explosion destroyed the two worlds in close orbit with the star.

Starbase 82 is now the secondary command site for Battle Group Omega and the Borg Task Force.

Kessik IV is the home of a Federation colony with approximately 22,000 residents. The small community was the childhood home of B'Elanna Torres, chief engineer of the U.S.S. Voyager during its years in the Delta Quadrant.

A region of deep space first surveyed by the U.S.S. Archer in 2404. The Archer's surveys indicated that there were high enough amounts of delta radiation in some regions of the area to adversely affect starship sensors. Caution is advised when traveling through this region.

Contact with the Beta colonists has been sporadic since the entry of the Borg into the Gamma Orionis Sector Block.

The unusual ring that surrounds the twin gas giants in the Kuda system is a sight not to be missed by space travelers in the Pelia Sector. Scientists theorize that the ring developed when an anomaly with an extremely strong gravitational pull altered the orbit of Kuda II. Whether the anomaly was a black hole or a cosmic string is still a matter of debate.
