The Federation Science Vessel is a Lieutenant Commander (Tier 2) level Science Vessel. Its the first science type starship that players of the Federation get access to command. The Science Vessel is a good all-round ship compared to the Cruiser and Escort vessels on its tier. It has excellent shields, a good hull and nicely balanced weapon slots between the fore and aft sections of the ship. The ship itself is small and depending on the customization options players chose it can be half the size of a Cruiser and even smaller than the Escort line.
Variants
Nova class
The Nova class was designed for short-term planetary research missions. It was placed in service starting in the mid-to-late 24th century. It is not typically suitable for combat operations. In Star Trek canon, the Nova design has a maximum speed of warp 8 and approximately eighty crew members.
One unique feature of the Nova class is its Waverider shuttle, which is located in a special docking port on the ventral side of the primary hull, similar to that of the Aeroshuttle on the Intrepid-class. Unlike the Aeroshuttle, however, the Waverider is not currently included in the game. The Nova Class also shares a nacelle design in-game with the Oslo Class Heavy Escort.
Aurora class
Like its sister Nova class ships, the Aurora class vessels were designed for short-range scientific missions, as well as scouting during military operations. Its slim, aerodynamic design was intended to maximize the efficiency of its high-frequency warp envelope.
Quasar class
Named for the distant black holes that are the most luminous objects in the universe, the Quasar class boasts some of the most advanced technology available for small scouting and science vessels. It and its sister ships are equipped with deflector shields to prevent space debris and objects from damaging the starship.

Abilities
Subsystem Targeting
The Nova Science Vessel comes with built-in Subsystem Targeting abilities. These built-in abilities stay at Rank I and do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Science starships. They are separate from Subsystem Targeting abilities gained through Tactical Space Bridge officer abilities.
- Target Auxiliary Subsystems I
- Target Weapons Subsystems I
- Target Engines Subsystems I
- Target Shields Subsystems I
Activating a subsystem targeting ability will upgrade all energy weapons to inflict a stacking power drain on the foe's targeted subsystem for the next 10 seconds. They will also have a small chance to knock the targeted subsystem offline for a short duration.
Sensor Analysis
Sensor Analysis is an active toggle ability. While maintaining a Sensor Lock on a target, the player gains a stacking effect that either improves the damage and power drain against an enemy, or improves any heal directed towards an ally. This effect stacks every 3 seconds, to a maximum of 6 stacks after 18 continuous seconds. To maintain the desired effect, the player must hold the sensor lock.
Standard Configuration
Federation starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.
