The Federation Miranda Light Cruiser is a Lieutenant (Tier 1) level cruiser and one of the first starship that players of the Federation faction have access to. New players are given command of a Light Cruiser on completion of the standard tutorial. Players can obtain the vessel again, if dismissed, through the Shipyard for 5,000 .

A refitted Miranda-class designed to more closely reflect its CGI appearance on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, including a greyer hull, lit nacelles and redesigned saucer with additional lights. The Miranda Beta pylon option also includes an in-built deflector dish, referencing the original STO model of the Miranda-class from the launch of the game.

The Centaur class is based on the Excelsior class, known to be active in the 2370s during the Dominion threat. It has a main saucer section with two aft nacelles at the end of its down-swept pylons. Centaur parts are available by default. | |

The ShiKahr class is similar to the Miranda in appearance, though it sports a bulkier hull design. The class is most likely named after the Vulcan city ShiKahr. ShiKahr parts are available by default. | |
The Reliant-class modernizes the utilitarian aspects of the Miranda design with a strong focus on mobility and utility, while improving the overall capabilities of this workhorse cruiser to match those of its fellow Tier 6 starships.
