Synopsis[ | ]

Foundry-Selomi and Toran

Toran asks Selomi if she is all right

Captain Ford at Earth Spacedock assigns the player on a mission for Starfleet Intelligence. A deep cover operative named Selomi has been investigating the activities of the Orion Syndicate in the Veela System. She has apparently gained access to some significant information and has requested an extraction.

The player is instructed to meet with Selomi's handler in the Veela System, however, upon arrival the handler is not at the arranged meeting point. The player instead discovers a trail of automated beacons left behind by the handler, and must follow them while avoiding hostile vessels.

After meeting with the contact, who is named Toran, he briefs the player on the current situation. He has lost contact with Selomi, who has activated her emergency distress signal. Toran requests the player's aid in recovering her safely.

Selomi's last known location is aboard a trading station in orbit of Veela IV, which is owned by a Ferengi named Pax. The station is also a known hub for the criminal activities of the Orion Syndicate in the system.

The player, along with Toran and an away team, beam down to the station and begin investigating Selomi's whereabouts. Information is gained by questioning the various visitors and staff while attempting to avoid drawing the attention of the Orion Syndicate members.

The Orion Syndicate discovered that Selomi had accessed their data and incarcerated her for further questioning pending her execution for disloyalty. Unable to release her from her cell without the required encryption key, the player must find her jailer, an Orion named Errahd the Enforcer.

Errahd participates in dangerous pit fighting matches aboard the station, and in order to summon him, the player must enter a fighting match and do battle. Upon defeating Errahd, the player learns that the key to Selomi's salvation requires a confrontation with Vahnya M'lani, the highest ranking member of the Orion Syndicate in the system.

Toran helps the player to beam aboard Vahnya M'lani's ship, The Terjas, which is in orbit around the station. While aboard The Terjas, the player must locate a data storage device containing Selomi's intelligence report, as well as locating the encryption key for Selomi's cell.

After the final confrontation with Vahnya M'lani, Selomi is safely rescued. Following the debrief, Selomi and Toran request to be transported to the nearest starbase where they can deliver their findings to Starfleet Intelligence.

Notes[ | ]

  • The Syndicate Extraction was one of the first missions to ever appear on the Star Trek Online Holodeck server after it was chosen by Cryptic to be part of its first "Foundry Spotlight Missions". The original version was ported over from the Tribble server in February 2011.
  • The mission features the option to avoid space combat altogether by flying around enemies.
  • There are optional ground enemies to fight on Pax's Trading Station - the battles with Shleth the Mighty and Trivaar the Terrible can be initiated after first talking with Krigaar the Bookmaker.
  • Placing bets on the pit fights using the betting terminals beside Krigaar will increase the difficulty level of Shleth and Trivaar when they are summoned a pit fight.
  • The fight with the Orions guarding Selomi can be avoided by rendering them unconcious. This is accomplished by releasing anaesthetic gas into the room through a vent, after obtaining the gas canisters from Ngoogari the Pirate Trader.
  • After speaking to Kel Jessa, the player is offered the option to immediately confront Vahnya M'lani or to investigate the room further. Choosing to ignore the console beside Kel Jessa will lead to a boss fight with Vahnya M'lani as the most powerful enemy group. However, if the console beside Kel Jessa is used prior to confronting Vahnya, upon arriving in the throne room, Vahnya will be a neutral NPC who can be questioned after the fight is over.
