Faction Klingon The Song of Circe's Demise
Designed by:

Level:
31
Preceded by:
“Crisis on Calyp”
Released:
April 1, 2012
Starts at:
Councilman Terrath in the Great Hall within First City, Qo'noS

On April 1st, the Klingon Empire receives a subspace communication from the Federation starship U.S.S. Circe -- with a false promise via proper diplomatic channels. Confirmed by Starfleet and the Federation Council as a hoax, the Empire does not take the matter lightly -- and vows vengeance upon the Circe. And further details emerge which may endanger the entire Klingon faction!

Synopsis[ | ]

"Subspace communique from the U.S.S. Circe: The Federation has announced a truce -- and is giving up several key worlds in the Donatu Sector to the Klingon Empire! Details to follow."

But we KNOW the truth: The Federation CANNOT "fool" us on this day! Despite a formal apology from the Federation Council, and assurances of an investigation, leading to a reprimand and court martial of the Circe's Communications Officer, the Empire WILL serve justice for this abuse of diplomatic discourtesy!

The player is ordered to report to Councilman Terrath (in the Great Hall in First City on Qo'noS). The Klingon Empire has received a transmission, verified as coming from a Starfleet vessel (the U.S.S. Circe*), which has sparked a diplomatic outrage amongst the High Council -- and even Chancelor J'mpok himself!

The ship has been located in the Upsilon Hydra system. Terrath, along with the Klingon High Command, has directed you to destroy the offending vessel.

Upon arriving near Upsilon Hydra IX, your vessel encounters the Circe -- disabled in space by a Gorn warship, working for the House of Duras. Your mission is clear: You must board the Circe, claim the vessel as your own, restore honor by discovering the reasoning for the offending transmission, and bring the crew to justice.

Instead, a larger plot unfolds... one which may fracture the Klingon faction... and threaten the very existence of the entire Klingon race!

  • The USS Circe was an Excelsior-class Federation starship that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century. In casualty lists received by Deep Space 9 during the 2370s, the Circe filed reports of many officers being missing, wounded or killed as part of battle operations with the Federation's Ninth Fleet during the Dominion War. This dishonorable vessel killed MANY Klingon warriors before former Chancellor Gowron allied the Klingons with the Federation.

Notes[ | ]

  • This mission is best played with an Open Team (group) or STF (Special Task Force) fleet action. It can be played solo, although the number of enemy forces might overwhelm some underpowered players.
  • "The Song of the Circe's Demise" was developed for Day One of "Klingon Awareness Week #2" (April 1-7, 2012). It was intended as a all-day event Foundry mission to kick-start the event, along with numerous other scheduled activities.
  • This mission was developed in less than six hours!
  • The title refers to the Klingon tradition of singing about battles fought. It is presumed the player's KDF character and their crew will sing songs of this glorious day, once they finish the mission.
  • The appearance of Vice Admiral Isaac Jones of the U.S.S. Calypso -- and Task Force Ulysses -- is intended as homage to the STO Foundry mission, "Crisis on Calypso" by STO Foundry author Ranger_Ryu.
  • The appearance of Task Force Ulysses includes the Starfleet vessels U.S.S. Calypso (Odyssey-class), U.S.S. Perth (Defiant-class), U.S.S. Newton (Intrepid-class) and the U.S.S. Deimos (Prometheus-class). The modified Dakota-class U.S.S. London does not make an appearance for unknown reasons, possibly as a result of damages incurred during "Crisis on Calypso."
  • Vice Admiral Jones continues his pursuit of Mirror Universe foes within this mission. His doppelgänger is NOT involved in this particular episode, though.
  • "Lieutenant Helna" makes an appearance, albeit a Mirror Universe version inspired by Ensign Helna (star of other STO Foundry missions, as originated by STO Foundry author Havraha.)
