Carriers are a type of playable starship. They are among the largest vessels in the Starfleet and KDF fleets, and due to their massive size they are also the slowest and least maneuverable. This weakness is offset though by the vessels ability to launch carrier pets and other small craft to aid it in combat. For example, a Vo'Quv Carrier can launch carrier pets such as B'rel Birds-of-Prey or To'Duj Fighters to draw fire or attack a target, or it can launch debuff pets such as Power Siphon Drones or Tachyon Drones that will automatically weaken the opponent.
All Carriers have two hangar bays, can equip Dual Cannons, and have built-in Subsystem Targeting abilities.
Consoles have no effect on pets, however target applied buffs like Attack Pattern Beta and Fire On My Mark will. Flight Deck Duty Officers also have different effects that will modify carrier pets based upon current carrier commands like Recall Mode, Intercept Mode, and Escort Mode.

Klingon Carriers
See also Orion Flight-Deck Cruisers for additional KDF-playable Carriers.
Vo'Quv Carrier
The recently built Vo'Quv Carrier is the pride of the Klingon Defense Force. This gigantic ship spans nearly 1,300 meters in length which is over 5 times the length of an average Klingon Bird-of-Prey. Unlike most other Klingon vessels the Klingon Carrier does not have any cloaking technology so it cannot hide itself in or out of combat however doesn't require it as much as vessels like Raptors due to its sheer power and strength. The Vo'Quv Carrier has set the standard for all currently existing Carriers in the game, and is often referred to as the original Carrier in Star Trek Online.
Mirror Universe Vo'Quv Carrier
The Mirror Vo'Quv Carrier is very similar is design to the Prime Universe Vo'Quv, with the main differences aesthetically being simply hull textures. Systems-wise, the Mirror Vo'Quv exchanges a Lieutenant Science Bridge Officer station with a Lieutenant Engineering Bridge Officer station, as well as exchanging a Science console slot with an Engineering one. Both of these changes make the Mirror Vo'Quv slightly tougher than the Prime-counterpart, but not as capable as a support Carrier.
Kar'Fi Battle Carrier
The Kar'Fi class takes many of the Fek'Ihri stylings, and as such doesn't look much like the normal Klingon designs. This class unlike the others were captured by the Klingon Defense Force during the conflict with the Feh'Ihri Horde. This Carrier is much more tactically biased than the Vo'Quv and, as a result, is often utilised as a support-damage Carrier, moreso than the Vo'Quv.

Federation Carriers, Escort Carriers and Dreadnoughts
Dreadnought Cruiser
The Galaxy class was refitted at the turn of the 25th century, after the collapse of the Khitomer Accords in 2399. In response to increased hostility with the Klingons, the newly redesigned ship carries a cloaking device and a devastating spinal lance weapon. The Dreadnought carries a single hanger bay.
Caitian Atrox Carrier
A true carrier, the Atrox class has been updated by the Caitians and the Starfleet Corps of Engineers with modifications that give it some of the abilities of a science vessel, including subsystem targeting and bonuses to Shield and Auxiliary power. These abilities allow the Atrox to support its fighters as well as other ships in its fleet.
Heavy Escort Carrier
This type of ship was made popular by the Akira class starship which appeared in both Star Trek: Deep Space 9 and Star Trek: Voyager. It contains one hangar bay capable of launching small crafts.
Fleet Dreadnought Cruiser
The Galaxy class was refitted at the turn of the 25th century, after the collapse of the Khitomer Accords in 2399. In response to increased hostility with the Klingons, the newly redesigned ship carries a cloaking device and a devastating spinal lance weapon. The Dreadnought carries a single hanger bay. The Fleet version adds a fourth Tactical console slot as well as increased hull and shield points.

These abilities allow the Atrox to support its fighters as well as other ships in its fleet. The Fleet Atrox features an additional Engineering console slot an better overall hull and shield strength.
Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier
This is the fleet version of the Heavy Escort Carrier which was made popular by the Akira class starship which appeared in both Star Trek: Deep Space 9 and Star Trek: Voyager. It contains one hangar bay capable of launching small crafts.
Romulan Warbird Carriers
Scimitar Dreadnought Warbird
24th Century, the I.R.W. Scimitar was developed covertly by a group of Remans under the command of Praetor Shinzon, a clone of Jean-Luc Picard. Though equipped with numerous weapons and housing a contingent of Scorpion Fighters, the original Scimitar’s key feature was the ability to utilize thalaron radiation as a terrifying weapon. Shinzon first used a smaller thalaron radiation device to kill the entire Romulan Senate, and then relied on the Scimitar’s strength to back his overthrow of the Romulan government. Praetor Shinzon attempted to deploy the Scimitar’s thalaron generator in the Battle of the Bassen Rift against the U.S.S. Enterprise-E and two Mogai Heavy Warbirds, but the Enterprise's crew prevented the weapon from being fired and destroyed the Scimitar – albeit at a heavy cost. Since the Battle of the Bassen Rift, both the Tal Shiar and the Romulan Republic have developed new variants based on the original ship design. The Scimitar-class, Falchion-class, and Tulwar-class of Romulan Dreadnought Warbirds represent the Romulan Republic’s latest iterations on this technology.
Ar'Kif Tactical Carrier Warbird Retrofit
The first Warbird designed by the Romulan Republic and the first new ship design to be launched out of the New Romulus Shipyards, the Ar'Kif Warbird represents a new approach to Romulan designs both physically and systematically. Inspired by Starfleet's Heavy Escort Carrier, this new Tactical Carrier Warbird functions in a similar way, with all the capabilities of other Tactical Warbirds such as the Mogai and the Dhelan, but additionally comes with the Hangar Bay for extra support. Like the Heavy Escort Carrier and the Scimitar, the Hangar Bays are by no means the central focus of this ship as you would normally see on fully functional Carriers such as the Klingon Vo'Quv. Physically, this ship borrows a lot of the design elements from the D'deridex and the Dhelan Warbirds and features dually connected wingspan found on many Romulan ships with a much more straight-lined overall body shape than the D'deridex.

Other Carriers, Escorts Carriers and Dreadnoughts
Tholian Recluse Carrier
Recent conflicts with the Tholian Assembly have resulted in a handful of captured Tholian vessels. Tholian technology is very different from other Alpha Quadrant powers, and these vessels are prized as opportunities for study as well as new combat vessels. The Recluse Carrier is an example of high-survivability and high-versitility on any single Carrier. Its ability to survive extended situations make this one of the toughest vessels to take down.
Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier
The Jem’Hadar Dreadnought Carrier is an Admiral (Tier 5) starship with features comparable to a Carrier-type vessel. The Dreadnought is the largest known Dominion vessel, and has incredible hull strength, shield capacity, and offensive abilities. A ship design introduced during the Dominion War, the massive Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carriers were some of the most powerful ships ever created by the Dominion. More than twice the mass of a Federation Galaxy Class starship, the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier was first seen in the Alpha Quadrant by the crew of the U.S.S. Valiant in 2374. Later in the war, Dreadnought Carriers were used to destroy outposts and provide heavy support during the Battle of Cardassia. Recently, a number of these vessels have been captured and are prized as opportunities for study as well as new combat vessels.
Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier
The Jem’Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier is an Admiral (Tier 5) starship with features comparable to both Escort and Carrier-type vessels. The Heavy Escort is a midsize Dominion vessel, with capabilities filling the niche between the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship and the Jem’Hadar Dreadnought Carrier. A Jem'Hadar warship design developed in the Gamma Quadrant after the end of the Dominion War, the Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier is a ship designed to complement the tactics of Jem'Hadar warriors. Often supported by a wing of Jem'Hadar Fighters, the appearance of a Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier in a battle can turn the tide for the Dominion. Recently, a number of these vessels have been captured and are prized as opportunities for study as well as new combat vessels.
Obelisk Carrier
This strange and powerful ship is from an ancient culture that has had limited contact with the Alpha Quadrant. Although the ship is not Elachi in design, it shares enough similarities with their technology to have a common origin and is believed to be a ship designed for the service of the Iconians (whether it be directly or indirectly an Iconian ship is unknown). A single Obelisk Carrier was stolen and its designs and specifications has since been copied and distributed throughout the Alpha Quadrant.
Advanced Obelisk Carrier
This strange and powerful ship is from an ancient culture that has had limited contact with the Alpha Quadrant. Although the ship is not Elachi in design, it shares enough similarities with their technology to have a common origin and is believed to be a ship designed for the service of the Iconians (whether it be directly or indirectly an Iconian ship is unknown). A single Obelisk Carrier was stolen and its designs and specifications has since been copied and distributed throughout the Alpha Quadrant. The Advanced Obelisk Carrier is an upgraded version of the standard Obelisk, featuring an additional Engineering console and better overall hull strength and shields. Currently, the Advanced Obelisk Carrier has the highest base hull of any playable ship in the game.
Voth Bulwark Dreadnought Cruiser
Bearing a distinctly different design from its sister Cruiser, the Voth Bastion Flight-Deck Cruiser, the Bulwark Dreadnought Cruiser almost looks like a giant-size version of the Voth Heavy Fighter. Viewed from above, the Bulwark bears some similarities to the Bastion, notably the numerous weapon hardpoints and glowing green highlights on the hull. Seen in profile, the ship looks almost organic, bearing more resemblance to an Undine ship than a Voth one. The Dreadnought Cruiser carries only a single hanger bay slot.
Performance
The Vo'Quv, Atrox, Recluse and Obelisk have very poor maneuverability, as expected from the size of the ships. In comparison to all currently available Federation, Klingon Empire and Romulan Republic vessels, they have the lowest turn rates. Traditionally, these ships function as more of support ships and support Carriers as they do not posses the same damage potential as a Cruiser or an Escort. These Carriers excel in hull strength, repair rates, buffs and debuffs. By definition, Carriers are able to launch smaller vessels, the type of which determined from the equipment piece slotted in the ship's hangar slots.
Klingon Flight-Deck Cruisers on the other hand tend toward more maneuverability at the expense of being equipped with a single hangar bay rather than the two present on full carriers. They are traditional Cruisers with some Carrier capabilities, but not to the level of the full Carriers. The Carrier capabilities of these ships are on a semi-heavy level, meaning they only take up about half of their gameplay.
The Kar'Fi Battle Carrier is unique among all carriers in that it is a Tactically-focused Science ship, with high base turn rate, 4 forth-3 aft arrangement, and 2 hangar bays, allowing it to dish out out high frontal damages while maintaining support capability. However, it is still relative slow, and with a lower hull rate make it more viable as a PvE carrier.
Escort Carriers of Federation and Dominion design and Tactical Carrier Warbird's of Romulan design, have the traditional Escort-style capabilities, with the differences being that they sacrifice turn rate for more survivability and a single hangar bay. The Carrier capabilities of these ships are on a semi-heavy level, meaning they only take up some of their gameplay.
The Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier and the Scimitar Dreadnought Warbird are both Tactical-based Carriers, with the Scimitar being limited to just the one hangar bay. Both ships are extremely slow moving (although slightly faster than the Vo'Quv, Atrox and Recluse) but are capable of dealing much more damage. However, they sacrifice much science (support) capability. The Jem'Hadar Carrier is a traditional Carrier with heavy tactical bias, whereas the Scimitar is a Dreadnought Romulan Warbird with a hangar bay, and is not necessarily the focus.
The Dreadnought Cruiser, its Fleet varient and the Voth Bulwark Dreadnought Cruiser are a lot like Klingon Flight-Deck Cruisers, except these vessels are slow to manoeuvre. They are equipped with a single hangar bay rather than the two present on full carriers. They are traditional Cruisers with some Carrier capabilities, but not to the level of the full Carriers. The Carrier capabilities of these ships are on a semi-heavy level, meaning they only take up some of their gameplay.
These smaller vessels - such as the To'Duj Fighters and Peregrine Fighters - give the carrier a unique style of play. Players can deploy varying types of fighters to fill different roles. These include, but are not limited to, providing direct damage firepower support, repairing the carrier itself or weakening and disabling enemies. When the launched fighters have been destroyed the player can launch another wave after a short period of time. Carrier Pets are discussed on a different page however the selection of a carrier's pets are crucial to the ship's effectiveness and damage dealing capability. Often, carriers will be able to equip unique fighter, frigates, or shuttles based on the origin of that carrier. As a general rule, frigates are the preferred hangar variant as they are more survivable and require less attention than fighters. However, fighters will deliver more damage on most occasions.
