The Vulcan Experimental Scout Vessel is a Tier 6 Scout Ship which may be flown by characters of any faction. This starship can be used from any level upon completion of the tutorial experience. As you level up, this ship gains additional hull, weapon slots, and console slots.

Players can obtain this starship from a [Special Requisition Choice Pack - Tier 6 Promotional Ship Choice Pack], which are available during special promotional events. The boxed ship is not bound and so may be traded to other players or bought and sold on the Exchange for energy credits under the name [Special Requisition Pack - Vulcan Experimental Scout Vessel].

Overview[edit | edit source]

The Vulcan Experimental Scout Vessel (informally, the Jellyfish) began as a highly maneuverable vessel, built for the Daystrom Institute by Geordi La Forge at the Vulcan Science Academy. It was designed to withstand environmental conditions that would destroy most other ships; intended to serve as a test bed for various experiments and scientific exploration.

In 2387, the Jellyfish was used by Ambassador Spock to deliver red matter to the Hobus System, creating a black hole that consumed the Hobus supernova and ended its threat to the galaxy. Spock was attacked by Captain Nero of the Narada moments later; in his attempt to escape both vessels were pulled into the black hole and are presumed destroyed. The Jellyfish, as it became known, more than carried its weight in these events, with incredible maneuverability to keep it safe and torpedo launchers as a primary defense mechanism.

Universal consoles[edit | edit source]

The Vulcan Experimental Scout Vessel comes with the [Console - Universal - Eject Red Matter].

Raider Flanking

Frigates, Light Escorts, Raiders, and Scout Ships come with a built-in passive damage boost available when striking an enemy's rear arc. To support their high turn rate and maneuverability, standard raider flanking grants:

  • +25% damage to NPC enemy when attacking rear arc.
  • +8.25% damage to Player enemy when attacking rear arc.

Sensor Analysis[edit source]

Sensor Analysis is an active toggle ability. While maintaining a Sensor Lock on a target, the player gains a stacking effect that either improves the damage and power drain against an enemy, or improves any heal directed towards an ally. This effect stacks every 3 seconds, to a maximum of 6 stacks after 18 continuous seconds. To maintain the desired effect, the player must hold the sensor lock.

Subsystem Targeting[edit source]

The Vulcan Experimental Scout Vessel comes with built-in Subsystem Targeting abilities. These built-in abilities stay at Rank I and do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Science starships. They are separate from Subsystem Targeting abilities gained through Tactical Space Bridge officer abilities.

Activating a subsystem targeting ability will upgrade all energy weapons to inflict a stacking power drain on the foe's targeted subsystem for the next 10 seconds. They will also have a small chance to knock the targeted subsystem offline for a short duration.

Hull strength[edit source]

This table shows how the ship's hull strength scales at each level. The base hull of all scaling starships is 10,000, which is then multiplied by the ship's hull modifier (0.8 for the Vulcan Experimental Scout Vessel), and then multiplied by the scaling multiplier below at each level.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The film Star Trek reveals that the Jellyfish emerged in the year 2258 of the Kelvin Timeline. There it was captured by the Narada - which had arrived twenty-five years earlier - and Nero used the red matter on board to destroy Vulcan in revenge for the loss of Romulus. He attempted to do the same to Earth, but the Spock of that reality stole the Jellyfish and rammed it into the Narada, detonating the rest of the red matter and destroying both vessels.
