The Vishap Frigate is the primary frigate of the Gorn Hegemony. Their armaments are roughly equivalent to the Orion Corvette and other such frigates. Ships of this class typically operate in groups of two or three and can be found accompanying larger vessels.

Missions encountered

• “Halting the Gorn Advance”: Numerous Vishap Frigates are among the Gorn fleet blockading a planet in the Tostig System.
• “Donia System Patrol”: Three civilian ships are destroyed by Gorn ships hiding in the Donia System asteroid belt. Starfleet subsequently eliminates all Hegemony vessels, including several squadrons of Vishap Frigates.
• “Defend the Pi Canis Sector Block”: Vishap Frigates are part of Gorn fleets patrolling Klingon space and are either grouped in two or three or accompanying larger Gorn ships.
• Vishap Frigates are among the Gorn ships raiding starbases in:
  • “Fleet Alert”
  • “Starbase Fleet Defense”
  • “Fleet Transport Defense”
• “Gamma Eridon System Patrol”: Vishap Frigates are among a Gorn fleet the player must defeat in the Gamma Eridon System.

Trivia

• Like all other Gorn starship classes, the Vishap designation is a reference to reptiles from Earth's fauna and/or mythology. The Vishap is a mythical dragon from Armenian mythology said to live on mountains, beneath lakes or in clouds.
