Hi Nathok, welcome to the wiki!
You can find lots of tips and formatting hints in the guidelines. Often you can simply copy a similar article and revamp it to fit your needs. When in doubt, simply do. Something is better than nothing. And you cannot break anything that exists, as articles in a wiki can alwayas be restored.
Concerning the "Infected" article, add your alternative to the discussion page and work it in as consensus is reached. If nobody responds for a week or so, it is safe to assume, that you may simply go ahead. If you have additions to the article that do not conflict with what is in it, simply put it in without asking. Articles are not "owned" by anyone.
One little thing: Sign posts on discussion pages with four tildes (or use the second button from the right in the toolbar), so its easier for others to take a look at your user page and contributions.
