:regarding STOWiki:Doff icon index, thanks for mentioning, I was not aware of that page. Although that is a manually updated page so it is probably not a complete listing. I would suggest that categorization is easier to maintain. And, depending on the features installed on this wiki, membership in a category can be used to automatically include items in a list. Automatic > manual for maintenance. — MrDolomite • Talk 16:31, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

::from Special:Version, this wiki does have the feature Dynamic Page List installed so that could be very useful for this instance and other areas as well. I'll do some testing to see how it works here. — MrDolomite • Talk 16:52, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Omega Minigame Locations

I have been working on these articles for several days. The overall plan is to not split up or duplicate information. I put all the locations on Omega Stabilization as a single reference source and had not yet found time to make reference to that list on the individual trace pages. We really dont need it on three seperate pages (4 if you count the mission). --Tahno (talk) 15:04, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Exactly why I was doing the same thing. I was putting them on the individual color trace articles, because when I'm trying to find out where Blue Omega Trace can be harvested that was the first spot I looked. Definitely doesn't need to be in multiple locations to have to maintain. — MrDolomite • Talk 15:10, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
Which is why the next step was to remove locations from the individual traces, and replace them with a note pointing to the *complete* list of locations in *one* place. That 'place' will also have some useful information about playing the game, once I complete the scoring section. --Tahno (talk) 14 February 2015 (UTC)
The best place content location is always open for interpretation. Rather than maintain it in multiple places a suggestion is to put it in one spot, like a subpage or a template, and then transclude that information to other articles as needed. Then it's one stop shopping to maintain and the end users will find in in whichever spot they go looking. — MrDolomite • Talk 16:44, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Duty officer categorizing

Also we already have Duty officer icon categories - named according to STO Wiki standards (we dont use title case). There is a complete list of icons at STOWiki:Doff icon index and the individual image files really dont need category pages linking them together, we dont use them that way. Duty officers are added by a form which displays the appropriate images for you. --Tahno (talk) 15:25, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

regarding the category title case, each wiki has its own standards, so I did check to see before creating Category:Duty Officer Icons. Based on the contents of Category:Icons, each word was capitalized, like in Category:Data Sample Icons‎ and Category:Pack and Box Icons‎. If the category name is incorrectly named, then please tag it for rename/move/delete by an administrator. — MrDolomite • Talk 16:21, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
regarding the redlinked categories, if, for example Category:Dosi male duty officer icons‎ is not going to be used, then the template dofficoninfo should not automatically include images into categories and should be edited to remove that feature. Since that is a high use template (it is transcluded on over 1500+ pages), making an edit to its contents is usually reserved for an administrator. I'm actually surprised such a high use template is not protected to prevent changes, either accidental or malicious. — MrDolomite • Talk 16:27, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

from Special:Version, this wiki does have the feature Dynamic Page List installed so that could be very useful for this instance and other areas as well. I'll do some testing to see how it works here. — MrDolomite • Talk 16:52, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
