Thanks a lot for cataloging such a huge amount of ships and NPCs during the week. That is really a huge help in expanding the Wiki and covering a lot of content. Star Trek Canon

Hi Markonian,

I've noticed you've been very active lately adding and editing articles based on wider Star Trek canon. I think its great that you're contributing so much, and think that the wiki needs people like you, however I'm a little concerned about the type of content you are focussing on. This wiki is for in-game lore. Articles like Shinzon and William T. Riker really belong on Memory Alpha. This is clearly stated in the wiki guidelines.

I suppose STOWiki is in a unique position of documenting only a small part of a much wider universe, but we need to keep the boundaries clear. There is no advantage is just mirroring content that is already in MA, and it will be confusing to newbies who dont know whether or not Shinzon and Riker are actually in-game.

I hate to single you out as lots of people (me included) have created articles that dont pertain to STO, however at some point a line has to be drawn. I'm not going to delete your articles as that would be unfair and I haven't discussed such a move with the other admins (plus its not like being an admin lets me do whatever I like - this is a collaborative effort), however I'm going to add a note in these articles that states they do not relate to STO.

I dont wish to alienate you as you are a real asset to the community and you write very well... I just wish you'd focus your effort on articles we do need. There are loads of mission articles that are in desperate need of re-writing.

That's not the point of the note, though - the note says that the outcome of the mission is not affected by the lethal/non-lethal choice. Obviously you must take different actions during the mission, but that's not what the note is talking about. Dr ishmael 03:07, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
