Template talk:Under construction
Chains go bye bye?[edit source]
Is there a reason why the 2 new chains got edited out? thanks --Drmike 00:47, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- I thought that this template was only for pages that had not yet been created. I'll change it back. KarikaCommunicator 12:09, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe either a better name and/or a description (there's that funny word again) that details what it should be used for) would be a good idea? I see it as an article that is either important and/or has a strong need for more details. Or is brand new and very much lacking? --Drmike 16:18, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
Showing six pages from a larger list[edit source]
User:Hello191 suggested trying to change this template so that it could select six pages from a larger list. Unfortunately, the implementation he suggested would allow the same page to be selected more than once, and there is no easy fix for that.
If we want something like this feature, we could possibly pull it off by switching to putting pages in an under construction category. Using an SMW query, we could calculate an offset value based on the current time. The bad news is that there may not be a way to prevent MediaWiki from fetching the same set from the cache every time, so it'd only update on when the main page or the template was saved. However, using a minor (if ugly) hack by wrapping it in <randon> tags might avoid that.
So, the questions are, is this feature useful enough to set up? Do we even want to maintain a larger list of pages? Which approach would we want to use? — Eyes 00:37, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- I think we should retain the ability to control which pages show up in the Under Construction box; some pages are more in need of updates than others. - Mitchz95 03:12, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
