Free-to-play...[edit source]

...has already now been added by User:Akira-sensei, removed by User:MatthewM, and now re-added by User:Backyardserenade. Though I believe it's unintentional, we're edging into edit war territory, so please discuss here and try to reach a consensus before removing/re-adding the link again (even if someone else does it). Thank you. Eyes User-Eyes-Sig.png 09:46, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't aware of the previous change. :)
There might be a difference here though, since I added the Free-to-Play link to the "see also" section. Which seems valid to me since it contains some information on a big development concept of STO (quite similar to Remastered Content or Feature Episode). I would agree with MatthewM that the link does not belong to the "Seasons" section. Still I'd like to include it somehow. -- Backyardserenade 09:56, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Backyardserenade - F2P does not belong with the Seasons but is perfectly acceptable for the "see also" section. --MatthewM 11:13, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Beta links needed?[edit source]

Maybe we can also briefly discuss whether the "Open Beta" and "Closed Beta" links need to be included? It seems unlikely to me that someone will create those articles anytime soon. At least they might be merged to "Beta", though I could do without them entirely. -- Backyardserenade 09:56, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

I would see no problem with a single "Beta" article, that then differentiates open and closed beta as two separate sections of the page. --MatthewM 11:13, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
I would propose an article called "Pre-Launch" then. Beta already exists. This article might include a huge chunk of the infos currently found on Star Trek Online. The latter article might then act as a hub on different topics and behind-the-scenes information for the game. The launch article could be merged with this new article so we have some nice, conceised infos on the Beta phases. -- Backyardserenade 12:01, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Well the article can definitely be called Beta (Star Trek Online) and have a disambig page. Articles having the same name are not a show-stopper. --MatthewM 16:49, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Further proposed changes[edit source]

To avoid further edit wars, three proposed changes:

Celebration Two Year icon.png
  • I'm inclined to change the template icon to the accolade image seen on the right. It would be a neat gimmick to change the icon every year. Though I'd like to get some input on the change before I go through with it.
  • I'd like to include a link to Timeline of Star Trek Online in the "See also" section (and remove the corresponding link from "post-launch" - it's not easily detectable there!). The article is a thorough collection of changes to the game and deserves to be featured more prominently.
  • If both, the Beta links and the launch link are deemed unnecessary, I would also remove the "pre-launch" section. Maybe the release notes link could be given a more prominent position. But that depends entirely on the evaluation of those links/pages. --Backyardserenade 10:33, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good, I've been looking for some way to make this look better. --MatthewM 11:13, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Season 6 name[edit source]

Greets: I noticed that season 6 has a name: Under Seige. I'm sure that that will make Steven Seagal fans happy but I was wondering how normally set in stone is that? I ask because on the template, the other seasons have their full name while six is just the season number without the name. I was wondering if we should go ahead and update it. Thanks --Drmike 11:39, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Not entirely true. On the template, the seasons are listed as "Season X". However, the page names they link to are always "Season X: Name". So the link to Season 6 should go to the page Season 6: Under Siege, while the displayed name would still be "Season 6". I assume though, that the name is final and set in stone (it has been oficially announced, after all). -- Backyardserenade

Template Rename?[edit source]

Given that this list now includes the Expansion: LoR, and Season 8.5 has just been announced (which, I assume, is not a full season but still a major update), I suggest renaming the template to something like "Major Updates in Star Trek Online".

Any thoughts?
