This template provides an automated way to get a shorter version of a duty officer specialization name via means of a simple switch function. Not all specialization names are shortened by this template; the shorter ones are typically returned as they are, but longer ones have parts of the title dropped, most commonly the "officer" or "scientist" portion at a minimum.
