Do we care about having trait icons? —Rick 15:51, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Might look okay mate, could try it out with a few and see how it looks. Adding a bit of imagery might help shy away from it currently being a bit of a wall-of-text. Flibby 16:01, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Traits in race description[]

Should I add the available traits for each race in the race description? I know that there is a chart but we could add it in the description itself. The1Authority 20:10, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget to add four ~ at the end of your post to add a signature (~~~~) or we don't know who posted the message. I'm not sure what you mean by races description? The traits are already showing on their races page and on the main traits article. --Flibby 19:58, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Look at the human race, youll see what I meant The1Authority 20:26, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah it's a good idea, since the trait page doesn't really include that information and it would be nice and helpful on the racial page. I'd not bother with the descriptions though, they can get that from the articles themselves. Also I'd probably merge the "Trait Pool" and "Require Traits" sections and just use one. I edited the article to show how I'd personally set it out, although it's your call. --Flibby 20:42, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Nice idea for the formating, ill keep it like that and fill the other race The1Authority 20:46, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Modified BO Traits[]

I noticed my blue Alien Tactical Bridge Officer candidate has Superior Cold Blooded (+37.5% and +15% Plasma DOT Resistance), I also got a purple Alien Science BO candidate with Superior Aggression. Another one with Superior Sturdy, one with Superior Creativity (+7.5% Damage and Healing with Kits) and Superior Resiliency (+7.5% PHtsical and Energy Resistance). I also have another BO with both Basic (+12.5% Fire / +5% Plasma DoT Resistance) and Superior Cold Blooded at the same time. Maybe the possibility of Traits being enhanced or reduced on Bridge Officer should be indicated ? Sajuuk 21:07, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Page rewrite[]

I would like to switch the current page with the content I prepared here. In addition I would move the current List of Traits paragraph to Trait list to have a 'master list', especially with the possible addition of duty officer traits soon that seems reasonable to me. Thoughts? Objections? --Dukedom 12:01, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

No opinions? Guess I'll go ahead then sometime on the upcoming weekend. --Dukedom 10:02, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

I apologize for the awkward timing, but as we might be getting Semantic MediaWiki installed, and as traits are a fairly nice small and consistent data set that could serve as a nice demo of SMW's potential for the wiki, I suggest holding off until we have a decision on installing it. Eyes User-Eyes-Sig 09:37, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Also, it's important to keep in mind that Traits is not just for captain traits, but also bridge officers (and soon, duty officers). --MatthewM 09:59, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Glyphs?[]

"and are comparable to glyphs in other games"

I'm pretty sure most people don't know what this is supposed to mean. I've never heard of an STO-like trait being called a "glyph" in any game, let alone heard of it being such a commonly used term for the concept that it can be used as a synonym for it without providing any further context. 70.172.215.4 20:46, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Well, the market-leader (WoW) uses glyphs to statically improve certain aspects of your character. They can be swapped from a fixed pool and the availble slots increase as you level up. That's why I'd say traits and glyphs are roughly comparable... --Akirasensei (talk) 21:45, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Trait System vs Passive Traits[]

I think this page is too focused on the new Trait system. A player can certainly have more than 9 traits. Many are awarded by accolades as passive traits which are not selectable by the Traits UI. This page makes little mention of those. --Tahno (talk) 08:30, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
