Talk:Ship weapon

From Star Trek Online Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

If no one has any objections, I'll take responsibility for the starship weapons page.

I play every day, and have time to update this as the game progresses.

I am unsure on how to set up templates or conform to site templates so I'm going to put the information in here as organized as I can, and if the site admin deems that it needs to be shuffled to meet standards, then go ahead, I'm just providing accurate information.

One suggestion though would to be to set up a table similar to the ships page, so that I can plug in individual weapon information.

Please IM me with any questions or concerns.

Keep up the good work, Kukafuchi! We've all been busy here on STOwiki updating the site like mad while also beta testing the game. The article is looking good! In the future, please sign your talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). Thanks! –TerranRich ( hail ∙ log ∙ comm ) 21:26, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

firing arcs[edit source]

I am pretty sure a turret always has a 360 regardless of if it is a phaser or a disruptor and the same for the rest, cannons, beam arrays etc. It is basically the in game description of the arc. The weapon type disruptor or phaser is the damage type. --Lem (talk) 17:08, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Here's a suggestion: Instead of listing the firing arc separately then, how about including it with the type name (e.g. Turret (360°))? –TerranRich ( hail ∙ log ∙ comm ) 17:18, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

That sounds good, I think i'll try going that direction –Kukafuchi ( hail ∙ log ∙ comm ) 11:17, 25 January 2010 (PST)

DPS[edit source]

I Can see you are listing DPS but what about damage, it is important to document too in my opinion as the it effects the rate of fire and the choice to frontload. --Lem (talk) 20:18, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

As I was playing yesterday I thought about that exact thing when I noticed that the Dual Heavy Disruptor Cannons and the Dual Disruptor Cannons have the same DPS, but different Rate of Fire. I plan on going back and doing regular damage as well, but I'm doing this from work and don't have access to the client, so I'll update that later when I can.

Weapons Template[edit source]

At the bottom of most pages there's a quick link table with all the ship components listed. Can someone change that template to reflect damage types instead of weapon types please? (e.g. "phaser - disruptor" etc. instead of "array - bank" etc.)

You'll have to talk to Lem about that. All I did to that template is re-color it to match the coloring of the rest of the site. –TerranRich ( hail ∙ log ∙ comm ) 22:07, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for doing that Rich, I wasn't sure what the hex code for the blue was. As for the weps I still think they should be split up like I have them listed. Having them all on one page is going to get MASSIVE, especially when you start including all the available modifiers, the skills that effect the damage, as well as any unique versions, which I believe do exist, some of the quest rewards don't fit under the generic descriptions. --Lem (talk) 22:53, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Ok, however you guys want to do it. I'll rearrange my tables to fit your template.

Adding non-standard weapons to the table[edit source]

For the record, I'm in agreement with including the non-standard weapons, though if Cryptic releases too many more, my preference would be to place them in a separate table. I thought I'd mention this given the recent addition, removal, and re-addition of this information. Eyes User-Eyes-Sig.png 20:48, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
