Talk:Non-playable starship

From Star Trek Online Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

This needs to be reworked with the Ships of the Line pages on Cryptics website, but more complete than theirs by using links to pictures, memory alpha, etc. How do we want to do this?Sir theodorik 18:38, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

It looks good to me already. That's not to say it cannot be improved. Maybe use the sandbox to show me what you mean, and if it works, then we will go from there. The links should already point to the class pages, and images should be added an the pages. <span=help title="bobalobabingbong's User Page">~bobalobabingbong -=[ <span=help title="boba's Talk Page">T + <span=help title="boba's Contributions">C ]=- @ 20:36, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Bird of Prey[edit source]

How do I add a new ship page? Ia am new to wiki editing but wanted to help with STO. The bird of prey has been confirmed by Cryptic Star Trek Online Website Q&A and I wanted to note about its cloaking abilities. Any help would be appreciated :) Thanks Theharddrive23 05:17, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Changes to the startship / class section for playable ships.[edit source]

There's a few things I'm changing and this is a head's up / expaination of what I'm doing (and also for anyone who wish to have an opinion on the matter to make it).

When I first looked at the currect pages like Nova class a few things struck me as odd. Firstly - this wiki is about STO and not the whole Star Trek history of a ship. Knowing when the ship was Commissioned comes very low in my list of things I want to know about the ship compared to knowing how many science stations there are onboard etc. Also there's not enough difference in STO for there to be a seperate page for each of the subclasses (e.g Nova class, Aurora class, Quasar class). I think if you want to know more about the class the ship is based off then go and see / link it to Memory Alpha instead of what's going to become a half empty page.

I've done some work and I've created Template:Playable ship info which can be used for any ship class in any faction (although there's still work that could be done on it but I'm not an expert).

I've also manage to make this:

Rank Escort Cruiser Science
Lieutenant Light Cruiser
Lt Commander Escort Cruiser Science Vessel
Commander Heavy Escort Heavy Cruiser Research Science Vessel
Captain Escort Exploration Cruiser Long Range Science Vessel
Admiral Advance Escort Assault Cruiser Reconnaissance Science Vessel
Fleet Escort Star Cruiser Deep Space Science Vessell

Is a table of the current ship classes in STO open beta (you can find the info from the databases in the 2nd floor room of the shipyard in Earth Stardock ingame). If you look at the few I've actally done, the sub-classes are listed in the infobox with the one from rest of the Star Trek linked to Memory Alpha. I'll like to tidy the table and info box up a bit more and finish starting some of the pages before replacing it on the page.

I have yet to start a Kilngon so I can't start making a table for playble Kilgon ships unless I am given the info.

Personally I think this looks great! --Cronocke 02:52, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Would this be a better layout for the ship stats tables?

I like this too. I vote for putting these both on the page. --Cronocke 02:52, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
