Sela is the current Empress of the Romulan Star Empire. She rules the Romulan Star Empire with force, deceitfulness and charm. She is the daughter of Natasha Yar and a Romulan general.
History
- Lieutenant Yar travels back in time to 2344 from an alternate reality with the U.S.S. Enterprise-C to defend the Klingon outpost on Narendra III against an Romulan armada. Yar is captured and becomes the consort of a Romulan general. Sela is born a year later.
- At the age of four, Sela cries out, as Yar tries to escape Romulus with her. Yar is executed and Sela completely rejects her Human heritage.
- She rises quickly through the ranks of the Romulan military, and as a Romulan Commander she plays a pivotal role in the Empire's attempts to destabilize the Klingon Empire, disrupt the Khitomer Accords and sabotage Ambassador Spock's Unification movement in the 2360s.
- Sela ambitions lead her to become proconsul in 2384.
- She loses a power struggle against the Tal Shiar in 2387, leading to her exile from Romulus.
- Her fleet reaches Makar, a world rich in natural resources in the Beta Quadrant, in 2391.
- In exile she makes contact with the Hirogen.
- Overthrowing Praetor Taris in 2403 she becomes new Praetor.
- In exchange for hunting rights in the Star Empire, the Hirogen lend their military support to Sela.
- Sela reshapes the Empire into a monarchy, declaring herself Empress in 2408.
