Science Destroyers are a type of starship. A combination of Science Vessel and Destroyer, they possess the attributes of both: like standard Destroyers, they have seven weapon slots are always able to utilize Dual Cannons, though as Science Vessels they tend to have more Science consoles than Tactical ones. They possess three device slots, as is standard for both types of ship. Additionally, these vessels come with the ability to function in two different modes that offer the capabilities of each albeit only one at a time.
- In Science Mode, they have all the abilities of a Science Vessel, able to utilize built-in Sensor Analysis and Subsystem Targeting, as well as a Secondary Deflector slot, while having access to +15 Auxiliary Power and higher Shield Capacity. This is the default mode, and gives access to a Commander Science Bridge Officer ability.
- In Tactical Mode, the Science Vessel abilities are replaced with Tactical-focused ones: the ship is able to utilize its Experimental Weapon slot, while having access to +15 Weapons Power and higher maneuverability in the form of Flight Speed, Turn Rate and Inertia Rating. In this mode, the ship has access to a Commander Tactical Bridge Officer ability.
- Currently, Tier 5 Science Destroyers do not have an Experimental Weapon slot. Instead, their 4th fore weapon slot has a special weapon that cannot be removed, and is only active during Tactical Mode. Tier 6 Science Destroyers operate as above.

Dyson Science Destroyers are truly unique starships that are inspired by designs found within the Solanae Dyson Sphere, but adapted to suit the needs of the Federation without the required use of Omega Particles. Each of these starships is first and foremost a science vessel, but is capable of entering Tactical Mode to significantly alter how the starship performs.
The Solanae Dyson Science Destroyer (T5) was designed as a prototype, to see whether a ship of this type could withstand harsh conditions of the Dyson Sphere.
This ship is available to Starfleet players from the Lobi Crystal Consortium for 600 and comes with the following:
- built-in Solanae Dual Heavy Proton Cannons (fused into Fore weapon slot)
- built-in Tactical Mode
- Solanae Overcharged Warp Core
- Solanae Secondary Deflector

Tier 6[ | ]
Mirror Crossfield Science Destroyer[ | ]
In the Mirror Universe, it’s survival of the fittest, and even Science Vessels have to be ready to fight at a moment’s notice if they want to survive. The Mirror Crossfield Science Destroyer is retrofitted from ships that crossed over from the 23rd century into present-day space. While fitted with powerful deflectors, shielding, scanning, and other scientific tools, looks can be quite deceptive – at a moment’s notice, the starship can transform, hiding the delicate scientific instrumentation and bringing astounding firepower for to bear, overwhelming anyone who came prepared for a mere science vessel.
Section 31 Intel Science Destroyer[ | ]
When it comes to top secret organizations, few things are as they appear, and the Intel Science Destroyer is a master of deceptive appearances – provided your sensors will even pick it up. While the ship has powerful sensors and masking abilities to avoid foes, there’s more than one way to remain hidden, and it can switch to bring powerful guns to bear when the situation calls for it.
Notes[ | ]
- Science Destroyers were first introduced with the release of Season Eight: The Sphere in the form of the Tier 5 Dyson Science Destroyers, which have a Solanae Dual Heavy Proton Cannons fused into their seventh weapon slot that is activated with Tactical mode.
- With the release of the Mirror Crossfield Science Destroyer as the first Tier 6 Science Destroyer, and the first since the Dyson ones, the ship type was updated to include seven weapon slots as standard that are accessible in either mode, replacing the fused weapon activation with an Experimental Weapon for Tactical Mode. The Dyson ships, however, were not updated to these specifications.
