The Nimbosian War of Independence was a brief conflict between the residents of Nimbus III and the Orion Syndicate in an attempt to gain independence. After the Orion Syndicate was removed from the planet, the Nimbosians removed the Tal Shiar foothold on Nimbus III. Nimbus III became independent as a minor power, with recognition from the Romulan Republic, Klingon Empire, and United Federation of Planets.
Prelude[edit | edit source]
An operative from the Klingon Empire, Romulan Republic, or Federation discovered that a collection of thalaron triggers went missing on Nimbus III ( “Secrets of Nimbus”). The operative visits Nimbus III to investigate. Horace Jones suggests that the person responsible for taking the triggers is a member of the Orion Syndicate. The operative rallies the residents of Paradise City to overthrow Orion control so the operative can find the triggers ( “Blind Men Tell All Tales”).
The War[edit | edit source]
Attack on the Orion Syndicate[edit | edit source]
The operative, after getting Nimbosian support, raids the Orion Syndicate stronghold ( “Blind Men Tell All Tales”). After entering the stronghold, the operative meets Hassan the Undying, the current governor in charge of Nimbus III. Hassan reveals he sold the thalaron triggers and traps the operative in an arena. The operative defeats all enemies in the area and continues fighting through the stronghold to find Hassan. When Hassan is discovered, he beams up to his ship. Hassan decides to attack all Nimbosian ships in orbit. The operative saves and repairs the ships, defeating Hassan with the makeshift fleet. During the battle, Obisek escapes with the thalaron triggers ( “The Undying”).
Attack on Installation 18[edit | edit source]

After dealing with Hassan, the operative resumed the search for the Tal Shiar on the planet. After defeating a sizable force of Gorn, the operative enters the Tal Shiar base ( “A Fistful of Gorn”). Within the facility, the operative liberates several people taken captive by the Tal Shiar. The operative also discovers an Elachi and attempts to interrogate it, but it blows itself up. The operative also sends out a message to Hakeev to lure him to Nimbus III. Returning to orbit, the operative, Nimbosian forces, and other forces allied with the operative warp to Nimbus III to stop Hakeev. Hakeev escapes, but the Tal Shiar fleet is destroyed ( “Installation 18”).
Aftermath[edit | edit source]
After the battle, Nimbus III became independent, with some recognition by other major powers. The end of the war also caused many Nimbosians to occasionally help the operative when they needed assistance in a space battle. Due to the discovery of the Tal Shiar's actions, the Klingons and Federation began to actively take part in the Romulan Insurgency.
