==== Examine Asteroid Near Navigational Beacon [Optional] ==== The asteroid in question is located at the southern navigational beacon. Scan the asteroid near the navigational beacon to see if there is anything useful that can be learned. ''Bridge Officer:'' {{missiontext|This asteroid is unusually large, and it's clearly been mined by the Romulans, sir. It was probably used for raw construction materials, like most of the debris here. This particular asteroid contains pergium, titanium, and duranium. It was probably tractored from a nearby system and brought here to construct hull components and power systems. We could probably cut a piece from the asteroid with our weapons, for further analysis. }} Target the large asteroid and blast off a chunk. Fly in closer to conduct a material analysis of the smaller asteroid. ''Bridge Officer:'' {{missiontext|Looks like the fragment has picked up a bit of residual energy from our weapon burst. It'll be radiating energy for a while. Other than that, it's ... just a rock. {{missionnote|Engineering officers can gain additional information thanks to their knowledge of material science.}} }} Engineering Captains receive the following instead: ''Bridge Officer:'' {{missiontext|Sir, this fragment is full of duranium. With a little bit of radiation, it'll cause duranium shadows on scanners -- which would look like a weapon suite. If the Romulans set up their sensor net appropriately -- and the Romulans are sticklers for detail -- their scanners will exclude this kind of stellar debris. If we just give the fragment a little nudge with our tractor beam and follow along behind it, we could slip right through the sensor grid! {{missiongoal|Use a repulsor to push the asteroid fragment, then follow it through the detection grid.}} }} This now unlocks the Engineering objective to follow the asteroid fragment through the tachyon grid.
