− | The Long Range Science vessel is popular with many players as it is a highly maneuverable ship with a commendable weapons performance. It is often used by Engineer-class players as an alternative to the [[Exploration Cruiser]] because of its balance of maneuverability, endurance and power. While it does not have the strength of an Exploration Cruiser or the DPS of the [[Tactical Escort]], this is compensated for by the [[Subsystem Targeting]] ability equipped on all science vessels. |

The Intrepid Long Range Science Vessel is a Captain (Tier 4) level Federation Science Vessel. It is one of the most influential ship designs in Starfleet to-date. The renowned Long Range Science Vessel, U.S.S. Voyager launched in 2371, it was commanded by Captain now Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway.
Variants
Intrepid class
The Intrepid class was the most technologically advanced ship of its kind in 2371. The design was considered a success and paved the way for many other Federation ship designs after USS Voyager experienced a seven year isolation in the Delta Quadrant without the support of star fleet or the maintenance of a Federation Starbase.
Cochrane class
This rugged design was named after the "father" of Starfleet and inventor of Warp Drive on Earth, Dr. Zefram Cochrane. While not the first craft to bear this name, the class meets starfleet standards and is set forth as the toughest of Intrepid based designs. With a larger saucer section in comparison to the hull and larger nacelles. The personnel at Utopia Planitia shipyards designed this ship to be even more self sufficient than the Intrepid Class outside of Federation borders.
Discovery class
After observing how successful the Intrepid and Cochrane classes proved to be, the personnel at Utopia Planitia decided to update the design. Thus in the year 2400, the first Discovery-class vessel was introduced into service. It was designed to be just as capable as the Cochrane and Intrepid classes while incorporating more modern technology. The updated nacelle design and the experimental pylon fins were aimed at creating a more efficient and stable flight during warp and transwarp travel when nacelles were in the angled position.

Abilities
Federation Science vessels come with built-in abilities. These abilities do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Science starships and must be gained through Tactical Space Bridge officer abilities.
- Beam Target Auxiliary Subsystems I
- Beam Target Weapons Subsystems I
- Beam Target Engines Subsystems I
- Beam Target Shields Subsystems I
- Sensor Analysis
After activating a subsystem targeting ability, the player will have 30 seconds to attack an enemy ship with any form of beam weapon. The attack will lower power to that system, and have a small chance of taking the system offline; if so, this will render all abilities that use that subsystem temporarily inert. For example, if the shields are taken offline, then all of the enemies facing shields will be disabled.
The Sensor Analysis passive ability grants the player a stacking damage bonus of 3.33% per minute and damge resistance debuff against a single target whilst the player maintains target lock on an enemy. Once the player switches targets the bonus is reset.
Standard Configuration
Federation starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.
