Synopsis[edit | edit source]
The player heads to the Midos V colony to attend an annual conference at Turing University. After becoming exasperated by a seminar on “Ancient Aliens,” the player is asked to meet a colleague, Admiral Dunham. Once arriving at the meeting place, the player is then forced to pacify crazed conference attendees. An investigation ensues, leading the player to expose the instigator and remedy the situation. Impressed, Admiral Dunham then enlists the player for a mission to the Delta Eridani sector, where strange reports have surfaced.
Once arriving in the Delta Hydrae system, the player contacts the Planck Science Station, which has been enveloped by an unknown spatial anomaly. After speaking with Dr. Walters, the player is tasked with performing modifications to the class-4 probes in an effort to continue the scientist’s research. Once completed, Captain Broyles hails the player to warn them of renegade Klingons nearby. After defeating the marauders, the player pursues Captain K’chukk’s escape craft to the surface of a nearby icy moon.
Upon landing, the player discovers that this moon has been previously occupied but remained hidden from sensors due to sophisticated masking technology. After disabling the power source to the mechanism, the player confronts Captain K’chukk in a nearby encampment, which houses the last, remaining survivors of an alien race that was forced to labor in the mines by the “Masters,” who strangely disappeared almost half a century ago.
Once aboard Planck Science Station, the player speaks with the imprisoned Klingon commander and the wounded leader of the Zumarians. The pieces of the puzzle all start to come together when the player reviews the mission reports of the Enterprise-D, who had explored a nearby system 44 years ago. Before the player has time to reflect upon this development, Dr. Walters and his trusty assistant, Astrid, enlist the player’s help in performing an experiment involving matter and energy from the anomaly.
Dr. Walters’ experiments have put not only the player’s ship and the science station at risk but also the entire universe. An aggressive enemy now seeks to return to this universe through a wormhole and it’s up to the player to stop them. After a pitched battle and some ingenious use of both chocolate puffs and the deflector dish, the wormhole is closed. Once again, Admiral Dunham is impressed and offers the player a position as lead investigator for Starfleet’s Section X.
