The Fleet Akira-class Heavy Strike Wing Escort (T5) is a Vice Admiral (Tier 5) level Federation Strike Wing Escort. Players can obtain the vessel through the Shipyard for 20,000 Fleet Credits and 4 Fleet Ship Module icon.png, as long as the player's Fleet has a Tier V shipyard. Owning the Tier 5 C-store Heavy Strike Wing Escort reduces the Fleet Ship Module requirement to 1 (instead of 4).

This type of ship was made popular by the Akira class starship which appeared in both Star Trek: Deep Space 9 and Star Trek: Voyager. It contains one hangar bay capable of launching small crafts.

Variants[edit | edit source]

Armitage class[edit | edit source]

Armitage class
Armitage patch.png

The Armitage class is a Heavy Strike Wing Escort. These vessels were designed to fit the original role meant for the Akira class: that of a small carrier-escort hybrid. Its appearance features low-slung, forward-swept pylons and long, tapered nacelles. Its saucer is built around a thick central spine that contains the deflector and elevates the bridge above the split hull. Its single, forward-facing hangar is equipped with a wing of Peregrine Fighters by default. A battery of cannon aperatures is concentrated in the nose, above and to the sides of the deflector dish. The Armitage is longer than even the Patrol Escort (though it has the same amount of crew. If made to use components from standard Heavy Escorts such as the Akira or Thunderchild its size will shrink to match. Torpedo and turret fire comes from the top-mounted launcher in the rear pylon.

Akira class[edit | edit source]

Akira class
Akira patch.png

The Akira class Heavy Escort closely resembles the Enterprise from the TV series Star Trek: Enterprise. The reason is the Akira was used as partially for inspiration when the NX-01 was being designed[1]. It is the most popular of the three Heavy Escort classes. Ships of the class include the U.S.S. Kelvin and U.S.S. Thunderchild (NCC-63549).

Oslo class[edit | edit source]

Oslo class

The Oslo class Heavy Escort is an upgraded and modified version of the earlier Norway class ship. It shares the same nacelle design as the Nova Class Science Vessel.

Zephyr class[edit | edit source]

Zephyr class

The Zephyr class Heavy Escort is an upgraded and modified version of the earlier Steamrunner class ship.

Thunderchild class[edit | edit source]

Thunderchild class

The Thunderchild class Heavy Escort is a tribute to the U.S.S. Thunderchild (NCC-63549) which engaged the Borg in Sector 001. This class is unlocked by purchasing the Heavy Escort Refit for 1000 Zen small icon.png from the C-Store.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

The Heavy Strike Wing Escort comes with built-in abilities that cannot be ranked up, and abilities that are based on the craft loaded into the hangar bay.

This ship can launch attack wings of Peregrine Fighters in its standard configuration, though other small crafts can be equipped to be launched. The carrier can also give commands to those craft to order them to attack or defend selected targets.

Standard Configuration[edit | edit source]

Federation starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.
