It is unclear whether Toreth is intended to be the same character from the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Face of the Enemy". Given that the Toreth seen in TNG was similar in appearance to Taris (both having been played by the same actress) and this Toreth is distinctly different, this may be unlikely.
