War became inevitable with Cardassia joining the Dominion and the Federation jealously guarding the Bajoran wormhole. With the aid of the Klingons and Romulans, the Federation managed to cut the Dominion off and push them back to Cardassia where Cardassian rebels helped liberate the planet.
