Area of Effect often shortened to AoE is a term used to describe buffs, debuffs, or attacks that affect multiple targets or allies in a specific area. There are multiple abbreviations used for AoE depending on what type of AoE it is, these are:
- AoE: Area of Effect. Standard term to describe abilities that affect an area rather than an individual.
- PBAoE: Point-blank Area of Effect. This term is used to describe AoE abilities that extend from the character.
- GTAoE: Ground-target Area of Effect. This term is used to describe AoE abilities that require the player to pick the area that the ability will be focused on.
- CAoE: Conal Area of Effect. This term is similar to PBAoE attacks, however PBAoE attacks are a 360 degree attack whereas conal attacks only encompass a specific area in front of the character that uses the ability.
