Delayed Overload Cascade

Charges target enemy craft and those nearby it with destructive energy. After a brief delay, all afflicted enemies explode, taking massive damage, dealing half damage to other enemies near themselves, and knocking them away. If multiple enemies are charged, multiple explosions occur, making this weapon devastating against swarms. Max 8 targets.

Convergent evolution, as a principle, holds true even across timelines. After a disastrous combat against alien ships which swarmed like insects, Starfleet needed to rethink how they handled small adversaries. Where traditional fighter craft operate as a screen and striking arm of larger ships, these adversaries used small ships exclusively and in immense number.

In our timeline, the U.S.S. Voyager inspired certain advances. In another timeline, it was the U.S.S. Franklin. Their cure to this plague was quite innovative: a resonant energy field induces massive molecular detachment in tightly packed enemy craft, enabling this little doctor to prematurely end their game.

Rank II: Lieutenant

When activated, Target and Foes within 2 km of it charge for 1 sec
Each affected Foe after 1 sec:

  • 14,863 Kinetic Damage
  • Half Damage and 200 repel to other Foes within 2 km

(Because each Foe emits a shockwave, the more Foes are affected the greater damage each takes)

Rank III: Lt. Commander

When activated, Target and Foes within 2 km of it charge for 1 sec
Each affected Foe after 1 sec:

  • 18,124 Kinetic Damage
  • Half Damage and 200 repel to other Foes within 2 km

(Because each Foe emits a shockwave, the more Foes are affected the greater damage each takes)

  • Listed damage is based on ability with 100 particle generator points and 50 aux on an Escort outside ESD. Your captain skills, traits, consoles, aux levels etc will heavily affect the damage output of this ability.
