Tribbles are small, round, furry creatures that players can find as loot or breed in Star Trek Online.

Some Tribbles provide an out-of-combat self heal, while the rarer Tribbles give various types of buffs: Damage, Damage Resistance, and Health Regeneration. Also, various types of tribbles are required for Assignment: Tribble Gene Splicing, an assignment with a chance to upgrade that tribble to the next tier in critical success.

There are currently 7 Common, 11 Uncommon, 9 Rare, 10 Very Rare, and 8 Unique tribbles.

Breeding

Main article: Tribble Breeding Guide

Tribbles breed when placed in the same location with any type of food or drink. Any location works, with the exception of your shared Account Bank or the Fleet bank. It can take up to an hour each time for a Tribble to reproduce, at which point the new Tribble offspring replaces the food item the parent consumed. This occurs repeatedly until all of the food is depleted.

Tribbles breed once every hour, on the hour, after you've started playing the game.

Tribble breeding is not a random process, but is related to the food Tribbles consume. Higher level foods (common, uncommon, rare, etc.) that provide a larger health boost like [Romulan Ale] will typically yield a higher level Tribble. Right-clicking on the Tribble will reveal the proper genus of the creature (which typically incorporates the names of developers). To prevent a Tribble from breeding, it should be equipped in one of the player's equipment slots with no food present.

Benefits

Tribbles are available as an equippable item for your character as well as your Bridge Officers to temporarily boost Hit Points or provide various 60-minute non-stacking buffs — Damage, Damage Resistance, Health Regeneration, or a combination of Damage and one of the other two. If your captain character or one of your bridge officers dies during ground combat, they lose the tribble buff.

Klingon Empire characters

While Orions, Letheans, and Aliens can use all tribbles normally, common as well as uncommon (i.e., "non-special") tribbles do not apply any buffs to Klingon, Gorn, and Nausicaan players and bridge officers when used (they just emit a squeaking, displeased sound). As a compensation, all characters of the Klingon Empire can prepare [Tribble/tuffli] to produce [Baked Tribble] and [Tribble Kebab], which both provide a 4 hours buff. Furthermore, KDF captains can hand in [Tribble Carcass]es to earn gold-pressed latinum .

Availability

The very rare Rivera Tribble is available through certain pre-order offers from various retailers of the game, and also in the C-Store for 120 Cryptic Points; this sub-species offers all three buffs at once.

• Common Tier 1 Tribbles are obtainable via drops during ground missions, often (strangely enough) when engaging Klingon NPCs.
• Common tribbles are also obtainable from a disaster in Assignment: Prepare Baked Tribble for Captain.

Tiers

There are 8 Tiers of Tribbles, ranging from Tier 1 (common Tribbles found as loot) to Tier 8 (rare Tribbles that provide a high-level boost in one of the three buff categories). They are described in more detail in our Tribble Breeding Guide.

All Tribbles can only be used out of combat. All categories except the first one provide 60-minute buffs to the player (or whoever pets the Tribble).

[Tribble of Borg]		+1.5 All Damage resistance for 3,600 sec +3% All Damage vs Borg for 3,600 sec	This is a special unlockable item for players who participated in the testing of the Season One: Common Ground content update, which took place on the Tribble Server. It is purchasable in the C-Store for 300 . Additionally, it is available from the Newegg.com Logitech bundle.
[Fluidic Space Tribble]		+1.5 All Damage resistance for 3,600 sec +5 Psionic Damage resistance for 3,600 sec +5 Toxic Damage resistance for 3,600 sec to Undine infections	This is a special unlockable item for players who participated in the testing of the Season Two: Ancient Enemies content update, which took place on the Tribble Server. The Fluidic Space Tribble has also been made purchasable from the C-Store for 300 .
[Tribble (phot)]		+2 All Damage resistance for 3,600 sec +0.02 Health Regeneration for 3,600 sec	This is a special unlockable item for players who participated in the referral program and referred at least one other player. Another means to obtain it was enabled with the event Q's Winter Wonderland.
[Cryo Tribble]		+2 All Damage resistance for 3,600 sec +5 Cold resistance for 3,600 sec	This is a special tribble that can be bred after completing “Cold Comfort” and receiving [Deferi Snow Tuber]. It can be bred from any other tribble.
[Triolic Tribble]		+3.3 All Damage resistance for 3,600 sec	This is a special tribble that can be bred after completing “Spin the Wheel” and purchashing [Comet Cocktail] from the bartenders on Drozana Station. It can be bred from any other tribble.
[Crossfire Tribble]		+3.3 All Damage resistance in RPG Mode for 3,600 sec +3.3% All Damage in Shooter Mode for 3,600 sec	This is a special unlockable item for players who participated in the testing of the Season Four: Crossfire content update, which took place on the Tribble Server. A Special Requisition Pack containing a Crossfire Tribble is also one of the potential rewards obtained from using a Master Key on a Cardassian Lock Box.
[Cannibal Tribble]		3 Physical Damage (0.41 DPS) 3.3 Physical Damage over 10 sec	This is a special tribble that can be bred using [Baked Tribble] or [Tribble Kebab]. It can be bred from any other tribble. This tribble can also be obtained by chance from the mission Confiscate Contraband From Crew. WARNING: This tribble will always eat Common and Uncommon tribbles and replace them with [Tribble Carcass]. Occasionally, they will eat better quality tribbles, as well.
[Radan Tribble]		+5 Dilithium (max once per hour) +2.5% All energy damage for 3,600 sec +2.5% Maximum shield capacity for 3,600 sec	This is a special unlockable item for players who reached at least level 6 in the testing of the Season Five: Call to Arms content update on the Tribble Server.
[Winter Tribble]		+5 Repel resistance for 3,600 sec +5 Knockback resistance for 3,600 sec +5 Cold resistance for 3,600 sec AOE bonus during winter event	This tribble can only be obtained by feeding a tribble any food that is obtained at the vendor in Q's Winter Wonderland in the Winter event.
[Gamma Quadrant Tribble]		+5% Damage vs Dominion for 3600 sec 5% Improved Stealth and Perception for 3600 sec	This tribble can be obtained by feeding "almost" any tribble [Ketracel White].
[IDIC Tribble]		Applies different buffs depending on your profession. These buffs affect your entire team and may stack with one another, but only one instance of each may be active on your team.	This is a special tribble that could be obtained during the EU re-release weekend of STO by completing an accolade. This accolade is triggered when a character logs on during the re-release event. This tribble is also available in the C-Store.
[Fleet Tribble]		+1 Fleet Mark (max once per hour) +5% Hold Resistance +5% Disable Resistance +5% Slow Resistance	This tribble was obtained by the testing of Season Six: Under Siege for at least one hour during the Tribble test weekend. It gives the user a single Fleet Mark and a +5% Hold, Disable and Slow resistance buff for one hour.
[Mol'Rihan Tribble]		+1 Romulan Mark (max once per hour) +5 Plasma Resistance +5 Disruptor Resistance +2% Plasma Damage +2% Disruptor Damage	This tribble was obtained by the testing of Season Seven: New Romulus for at least one hour during the Tribble test weekend. It gives the user a single Romulan Mark and +5 Plasma and Disruptor Damage Resistance, and +2% Plasma and Disruptor damage buffs for one hour.
[Lohlunat Tribble]		+2.5 Psionic Damage Resistance Rating for 3,600 sec +0.03 Health Regeneration for 3,600 sec During Summer Event: to self: +5 Flight Speed for 3,600 sec to self: +0.05 Inertia for 3,600 sec	This tribble can be bred with any of the eight uncommon food items sold during the Lohlunat Festival on Risa (summer event).
[Nukara Tribble]		+1 Nukara Mark (max once per hour) +10 Environmental Damage Resist	This tribble was obtained by the testing of Legacy of Romulus for at least one hour during the Tribble test weekend and also was given to players who did not test. It gives the user a single Nukara Mark and +10 Environmental (Cold, Fire, Toxic, and Radiation) Damage Resistance for one hour.
[Solanae Tribble]		+1 Dyson Mark (max once per hour) +5 Antiproton Damage Resist +1% Critical Hit Chance	This item was made available to all players at the launch of Season Eight: The Sphere and can be claimed from the C-Store as an account-wide unlock until November 21, 2013 (though players who have already claimed one can acquire them for any future characters they make). It gives the user a single Dyson Mark and +5 Antiproton Damage Resistance, and 1% Critical Hit Chance for one hour.
[Inquisitive Tribble]		+1.5 All Damage resistance for 3,600 sec +2% Experience Points for 3,600 sec	Players who participated in the WizKids Promotion and Giveaway from May 10 – May 24, 2016 could redeem a code which unlocks this tribble in the C-Store.

[Baked Tribble]		+81% Hit Points over 4 sec +2.5% All Damage for 14,400 sec (Consumed on Use) This baked tribble can be obtained from the Assignment: Prepare Baked Tribble for Captain
[Tribble Kebab]		+90% Hit Points over 4 sec +3% All Damage for 14,400 sec (Consumed on Use) This grilled tribble can be obtained from the Assignment: Prepare Tribble Kebab for Captain
[Tribble Carcass]		No buffs, this is just a normal item. This item is the remains of a Common or Uncommon rarity Tribble eaten by the [Cannibal Tribble] . These Tribble carcasses are required for Assignment: Tribble Bounty .
