- Are you looking for more information about bridge officer traits?
Traits add extra bonuses to attributes or abilities of your game character. Most traits are passive bonuses, but some also include a special ability your character can activate. Each passive trait either gives a bonus for ground or for space combat. Traits therefore have a direct influence on the overall strengths of your character and, along with your skills and Captain Specializations, are a key to adapting your character to your play style. Unlike skills, however, traits can be changed without costs at any time out of combat.
Each character has:
- One race-specific trait: A permanent, non-customizable racial trait (which may consist of more than one bonus) based on the choice of the player race. (Alien captains can fully customize their racial trait during character creation.)
- Nine slots for personal traits (three at beginning, one additional slot every 10 levels until level 60): Additional selectable traits which can be changed in-game. Some are available based on the player's career path (adding four specific traits to the player's choice) and race, while the majority is obtainable through Genetic Resequencers (found by opening lockboxes or sold on the exchange under the Reward Pack category).
- Four slots for starship traits (unlocked at level 50): Additional selectable traits which can be changed in-game and only affect space combat. Traits can be unlocked either via the Captain Specialization system or by achieving Starship Mastery level 5 in a tier 6 ship.
- Four slots for active, and eight for passive (four ground, four space) reputation traits (unlocked at level 50): Traits which are unlocked via the reputation system. Active traits grant a clickable ability for either space or ground combat depending on the respective reputation faction.
- Slots for other traits: Special traits obtained from certain missions and that are automatically activated, i.e. slotted.
Race-specific innate traits
Each playable race has a built-in species trait, which is usually a simple combination of two or three existing traits. This trait is innate and cannot be changed.
