Rura Penthe is an icy world located in the Beta Penthe System and site of the Rura Penthe penal colony. Access to the surface is restricted, even for KDF officers.

History[ | ]

Rura Penthe Bird-of-Prey

The player's Bird-of-Prey hovering over the surface of Rura Penthe during “Manhunt”.

In 2153, Starfleet captain Jonathan Archer was condemned to a life-sentence on Rura Penthe, for his role in assisting a group of refugees which had fled a Klingon protectorate. In addition, Archer's advocate was sentenced to a period of one year in the mines, for his accusation of dishonorable conduct on the part of the magistrate. Although Archer was eventually rescued by his crew, his advocate elected to stay, feeling that he could not restore honor to the Klingon justice system living as a fugitive.

In 2293, Starfleet officers James T. Kirk and Leonard McCoy were sentenced to life on Rura Penthe, after being found guilty of the assassination of Chancellor Gorkon. Both were rescued by Captain Spock and the crew of the U.S.S Enterprise-A before freezing to death on the surface.

Missions involved[ | ]

  • KDF “Manhunt”: KDF players track Franklin Drake to Rura Penthe after he escapes from custody on Qo'noS. On the surface, warden K'ratak refuses to order his guards to search the prison for Drake, but invites the player to conduct the search instead. The player finds both Drake and the Klingon diplomat K'mtar, who is being held at Rura Penthe on false charges. After Drake instigates a prison riot, the player and K'mtar quell it and flee. Drake escapes the surface in a shuttle after paasing some information. The player's escape is hindered by the warden, who, however, is killed by the player's Bird of Prey.
  • ALL “Best Served Cold”: Coordinated by Captain Kagran and General Martok, a team of five Alliance captains stop House Mo'Kai forces, led by Aakar, as they attempt a prison break in orbit of Rura Penthe.
  • ALL “Warriors of the Empire”: Gathering warriors for the final battle of Qo'noS, the player carries Martok and his forces to Rura Penthe to liberate warriors of House Kang, while dealing with Madran there as well.
