The Fleet Comet Reconnaissance Science Vessel is an Admiral (Tier 5) level Federation Science Vessel. Players can obtain the vessel through the Shipyard for 20,000 and 4 , as long as the player's Fleet has a Tier II shipyard.
The Reconnaissance Science Vessel is one of the newer line of Federation scientific starships and was built not long after the Dominion War had ended, with the purpose of exploration and research. One notable vessel of the Recon line (or more specifically the Luna class) is the USS Titan. These vessels are quite maneuverable due to a high turn rate and inertia rating. Also of note, all Recon Science Vessels can mount a "Mission Pod" through the starship customization in-game.
Variants
Luna class
The Luna class has a very slender and curved design. It has a typical saucer section at the fore end of the ship which intersects with the hull. The hull is quite small and is predominantly located on the under-side of the ship. The aft section of the hull also slopes on roughly a 20 degree angle. The hull connects to two pylons which split off at a 45 degree angle to connect to the nacelles.
Polaris class
The Polaris class is very angular compared to the Luna and Sol classes. The aft section of the mission pod, main hull and nacelles lead off into a spiked design. The saucer section is quite typical in design, although is longer than most and has notable cut-outs on the rear left and right sides.
Sol class
The Sol class design has more in common with the Luna class than the Polaris, and features a very smooth and rounded design with little in the way of sharp edges. The saucer design is pear-shaped with the wider portion at the rear. The dorsal section of the hull comprises of a smooth slope going from the saucer section to the aft section of the hull and also is the main entry point for shuttles.
Comet class
The Comet class is a variant of the Luna class but resembles the Sol class. Nacelle pylons are forked and the pod and saucer section are much more connected. The saucer also has a Star Cruiser style middle row that extends to the neck. This class was an add-on originally available through the C-Store, but now is only available with purchase of the Fleet Reconnaissance Science Vessel.
Performance
With the Reconaissance Science Vessel already dealing a considerable amount of raw weapon damage for a science ship, the Fleet RSV's damage output can be increased even further due to the additional tactical console slot. Having one or two RCS accelerators equipped, this ship can match the turn rate of an escort but has a clearly higher survivability due to its stronger shields and science bridge officer slots. The weapon limit of a science vessel (i.e., one less front weapon) still applies, leaving the damage output behind a beam escort's DPS, however, the (more versatilely usable) science bridge officer slots can partially outweigh this disadvantage if used correctly.

Standard Configuration
Federation starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.

Abilities
Federation Science vessels come with built-in abilities. These abilities do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Science starships and must be gained through Tactical Space Bridge officer abilities.
- Beam Target Auxiliary Subsystems I
- Beam Target Weapons Subsystems I
- Beam Target Engines Subsystems I
- Beam Target Shields Subsystems I
- Sensor Analysis
After activating a subsystem targeting ability, the player will have 30 seconds to attack an enemy ship with any form of beam weapon. The attack will lower power to that system, and have a small chance of completely taking the system offline. If the system is taken offline it renders all abilities that use that subsystem temporarily inert. For example, if you target the shields and subsequently take them offline, then all of the enemies shield facings will go down.
The Sensor Analysis passive ability grants the player a stacking damage bonus of 3.33% per minute against a single target whilst the player maintains target lock on an enemy. Once the player switches targets the bonus is reset.
