Battle Cruiser
The Ferengi D'Kora Marauder is an Admiral (Tier 5) Cruiser. This ship is available to both Federation and KDF players.
The Ferengi D'Kora Marauder comes with a [Console - Universal - Battle Module 3000], which allows the ship to engage Battle Mode, and allows Ability: EMP Pulse and Ability: Swarm Missiles. This console can only be used on the D'Kora Marauder.
Obtaining
The Ferengi D'Kora Marauder is only available as a rare drop from the [Ferengi Lock Box] or the [Ferengi Lock Box - Gold]. They may also be found on the exchange, although they may be quite expensive.
Overview
Fully loaded and ready for battle, these D'Kora Marauders feature everything a captain could want. They boast exclusive access to onboard Dabo, Bank, Mail, Exchange, a Ferengi Trade Duty Officer contact as well as the [Console - Universal - Battle Module 3000]. This console is a powerful piece of technology that gives the ship the ability to fire an EMP Burst that will drain power from pursuing enemy ships. When fully engaged, the Battle Module 3000 will transform the D'Kora Marauder, opening several ports and conduits and improving the ship's weapons and engines. The EMP Burst is disabled, but a Swarm Missile System is revealed.
The D'Kora Marauder comes fully stocked for any privateer and is able to equip cannons.
Origin
Due to a miscalculation on the Ferengi Futures Exchange in early 2409, Urata Manufacturing found itself with an excess of inventory and mounting debt. Desperate to stabilize cash flow, the company attempted to liquidize some of its remaining assets through quiet sales. When this didn't work, the leaders of the company cooked the books, shoving most of their remaining debt onto a little-known subsidiary that specialized in military ships. Then they spun that company, Sluga Military Technology, off as an independent manufacturer.
Burdened with Urata Manufacturing's old debts, Sluga seemed doomed to failure. Its stock price dropped so low that it was delisted off of the exchange. Most of the staff abandoned the company. Liquidators were expected any day. That's when the president of the company had a revelation.
Half of the quadrant is at war, but the Ferengi Alliance is neutral. It isn't buying more ships for its military. So why not find a way to get these ships to people who need them? As the Rules of Acquisition say, war is good for business!
Armed with an unstoppable attitude and a few convenient loopholes in Ferengi law, Sluga Military Technology has teamed up with Lobi Crystal Consortium (a wholly owned subsidiary of Quark Enterprises) to put new D'Kora Marauders in the hands of ship captains on the front lines.
Performance
Although it suffers slightly in comparison to some of the newer Cross-faction ships, the D'Kora is still a formidable presence on the battlefield, most comparable to the Federation's Assault Cruiser Refit - though with a few differences, such as the ability to mount Dual Cannons. Like that class, it has a solid mix between Tactical and Engineering in its Bridge Officer setup. The Lt. Commander Tactical bridge officer slot allows the player to use Cannon: Rapid Fire II and Cannon: Scatter Volley II, giving it an impressive punch. There is also a Commander level Engineering bridge officer, which allows the D'Kora to heal a lot of damage that gets through its shields.
Although it may not have as many hull points as other Cruisers, it still has more than escorts of a similar tier. as well as higher shields than equivalent Federation Cruisers (and far higher than Escorts). If Dual Cannons/Dual Heavy Cannons are mounted, keeping them trained on a target can be a problem with its turn rate (which, at 8, is admittedly still above average for a Cruiser). It is recommended that D'Kora captains have at least 1 RCS Accelerator to increase the turn rate so that Dual Cannons can be brought to bear.
Onboard Amenities
The D'Kora Marauder interior has a number of onboard features not available on ship classes other than the Tuffli Class Freighter and Suliban Cell Ship. The ship's owner can access them by selecting "Visit Starship Bridge" on the dropdown menu, and once onboard, can share them with friends by sending Bridge Invitations.
- A Trader NPC (similar to the one at Deep Space Nine) that offers Trade Assignments.
- While the pool of possible assignments is the same, it is possible for the D'Kora Trader and the DS9 Trader to offer a different selection of assignments at any particular time.
- Bank, Exchange, and Mail terminals.
- A Dabo table, complete with holographic Leeta.
