Overview

Difficulty is a level you can set for missions before undertaking them. There are three levels of difficulty available:

  • Normal (Default setting. You cannot suffer injuries.)
  • Advanced
  • Elite
Some of this information is covered when you speak to the Assignment Officer in Spacedock, to complete "Mission: A Difficulty Decision"

Missions on more difficult settings provide enemies that are stronger and use varying tactics. With a higher difficulty setting, you can sustain injuries and at a greater chance. The other side of this is that with a higher difficulty setting, the drops are more valuable.

Teams

The difficulty setting of the leader applies to the team.

PvP

The difficulty setting does not affect PvP content.

STFs

The difficulty setting for Special Task Force missions is solely determined by whether a team joins a normal (easier enemies, no injuries) or elite (harder enemies, injuries can occur) setting. Certain rewards are only available at one difficulty or the other (e.g. Mk X common tech in normals and Mk XII proto tech in elites).

How to Change Difficulty Level

There are two methods to changing your difficulty level for missions:

  • Go to your "Options", and under the basic tab is a setting to change your default difficulty level.
  • Go to your mission (hit the L key, and under the "Episodes" tab, click on a mission, and at the bottom of the window is a drop-down to change the difficulty level.
