Captain Specialization

Captain Specializations were added with the release of Delta Rising and, in addition to the skill and trait systems, are a key to individualizing and specializing your character. Captain Specializations are a form of skill progression that is opened after achieving Level 50 and therefore completing the main skill tree. Starting with level 51, each level-up provides a specialization point. After reaching the level cap (currently level 60), specialization points can still be earned indefinitely by filling the skill point bar the same way as during actual leveling. Although specializations cannot be changed or reset, given a very long playtime, a character is theoretically able to acquire all the specialization points that can be spent.

Specialization points can be spent in two types of specialization trees: Primary and Secondary. A player can activate a single primary, and a single secondary specialization. Active specialization trees can be changed any time out of combat, making their respective bonus and abilities available and/or applicable. Additionally, progression in a specialization tree may automatically provide certain unlocks that remain available even for inactive specializations.

Specializations

Intelligence Officer (primary)

The Intelligence Officer-tree

Specializes in finding weaknesses and remaining undetected, while counter the same.

• Bonus: +5% defense per point spent; +5% dodge chance per point spent
• Unlock: Ability to equip Intelligence Kit Modules (unlocked and purchased through the Delta Reputation)
• Unlock: Ability to train Intelligence Specialist Bridge Officers in Rank III Abilities
• Unlock: Starship trait - Predictive Algorithms (self-debuff and accuracy boost)

Pilot (secondary)

The Pilot-tree

Pushing the upper limits of starship maneuverability.

• Bonus: +5% turn rate per point spent
• Unlock: Starship Trait - Pedal to the Metal (damage boost at high speed)

Commando (secondary)

The Commando-tree

Specialized in ground assaults, and making the most of your weaponry and equipment.

• Bonus: +5% weapon and melee per point spent
• Unlock: Starship Trait - Demolition Teams (shield-ignoring damage at close range)
