Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser
- This page is about the playable ship. For the NPC ship, please see Tal Shiar Adapted Battlecruiser (Mob).
The Khnial Class is a series of powerful Tal Shiar Battle Cruisers based on the design of the D'deridex and upgraded with adapted Borg technology. By augmenting the D'deridex, the Tal Shiar designed this vessel to focus on crippling and disabling enemy ships, or even turning them against one another. Due to its advanced technology, the Khnial has access to Sensor Analysis, allowing to gradually increase its damage dealt to a single target, based on how long it keeps that target as its focus.
The Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser comes with a [Console - Universal - Indoctrination Nanite Dispersal System], which overrides a target's weapon systems, causing them to fire randomly at nearby vessels. The enemy vessel will be unable to disable their own weapons systems during this time.
This vessel also comes with a [Tal Shiar Adapted Borg Warp Core]. This gives the ship enhanced hull regeneration, as well as Auxiliary power. It also allows increases the maximum Warp speed in sector space. Utilizing this Warp Core in conjunction with both of the consoles found on Tal Shiar Adapted vessels will result in additional Exotic Particle damage being dealt to targets of most offensive science abilities.
Heavily resembling Nero's Narada from the 2009 Star Trek, the Khnial bears little, if any, resemblance to the sleek lines of Romulan Warbirds. The ship's jagged fore extrusions and angular appearance are due to incorporation of Borg technology in the ship's design.
Despite being a Romulan ship, the Adapted Battle Cruiser demands a very different playstyle to the usual Romulan Warbirds. The ship's Console setup favours Engineering, but with 3 Tactical and 3 Science Consoles the ships seems to offer a decent all-round balance. However, the ship's Bridge Officer setup betrays the weakness of that approach - a Lieutenant Commander Science, and Lieutenant Tactical and Engineering slots leave the ship dependent on the right Universal Bridge Officers to enhance the setup. Players will need to identify their best playstyle before kitting out the ship, as this is not a ship that does well if players try for an all-round approach.
Notably, the ship has a standard Warp Core, denying it access to the Singularity powers of other Romulan ships. Its Adapted Cloaking Device also performs more like a regular Cloak, meaning it can't Cloak at Red Alert. However, the ship also has a number of other features to recommend it. It has Sensor Analysis like Science Vessels, but its Nanite Dispersal Console is especially interesting, allowing the ship to use its enemies against each other. It has slightly better innate healing abilities than regular Romulan ships.
These starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.
This vessel has built-in abilities.
The Sensor Analysis passive ability grants the player a stacking damage bonus of 3.33% per minute against a single target whilst the player maintains target lock on an enemy. Once the player switches targets the bonus is reset.
As a battle cruiser, this ship supports the following cruiser commands.
- Ability: Strategic Maneuvering
- Ability: Shield Frequency Modulation
- Ability: Weapon System Efficiency
