The Star Cruiser is an Admiral (Tier 5) level Federation Cruiser. The Star cruiser is the most advanced cruiser in Starfleet. It has the largest crew complement of ships at this level which can improve hull repair and some bridge officer abilities. The Star Cruiser is usually larger than most Federation Cruisers. They are considered the flagship of fleets or support for advanced missions. These stout ships sport massive warp cores, which generate surplus power for subsystems.
Variants[edit | edit source]
Sentinel class[edit | edit source]Assault Cruiser. The nacelles have a pointed edge on both ends, with the Bussard collectors recessed to the side and pushed forward by the pylons. It has elevated fins that trace the hull and saucer section. (Note: The Sentinel class star cruiser was originally the Avenger class star cruiser until Cryptic created the Avenger class battle cruiser; Federation and Terran Empire cruiser mobs can still spawn with the Avenger name.)
Vanguard class[edit | edit source]

Nomad class[edit | edit source]Luna class and Envoy class nacelle designs. In contrast to other designs, the ship's torpedo launchers are located to the side of the saucer and hull sections instead of pointing directly ahead and behind.
The Nomad class was an extra add-on available through the C-Store for 440 Zen. As of Season 6, this variant is only available through the Fleet Star Cruiser. Those who already own the variant retain access through the standard Star Cruiser line.
Performance[edit | edit source]
The Star Cruiser is a very formidable ship. Compared to the other new Rear Admiral level Cruiser, the Assault Cruiser, the Star Cruiser has 200 additional crew, an extra Science Console and Lieutenant Science Bridge Officer Station instead of a Tactical focused slot and station. The extra crew complement compared to other Cruisers can make it tough to destroy when combined with the right defense based skills. The ship also has the same amount of weapon slots as the Assault Cruiser (4 aft, 4 fore), so it doesn't lack for firepower.
Star Cruisers have generally poor maneuverability. The low Turn Rate (7) makes it necessary to have a good weapons layout that can handle an enemy at all sides without needing to turn often, so wide-arc weapons like Beam Arrays and Turrets are highly recommended. A [Console - Engineering - RCS Accelerator] can alleviate the Turn Rate, but will fill an Engineering Console slot which can be used for other things. The extra Science abilities granted by the extra Science Console and Science Bridge Lieutenant Officer slot can give you an edge in outlasting other ships in the field or further supporting team ships should you choose.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- Due to the Star Cruiser's design that echos U.S.S Voyager's style of a hull and saucer without a neck, a subset of Star Trek Online players often label this ship "Space Whale" or "Shovel". This however has not hurt the popularity of the ship class.
- The Sentinel class was known as the Avenger class prior to the release of the Avenger Battle Cruiser.
