Skill: Starship Inertial Dampers
This skill grants your Starship resistance to Hold, Disable, Knock, and Slow effects.
Increasing this skill means you will be slowed less from abilities like Tractor Beam; your ship will not be pushed as far by Repulsor Beams or Photonic Shockwave; and you will be disabled for much less time by abilities like Viral Matrix, Photonic Shockwave or Tricobalt Devices.
This skill grants your Starship resistance to Hold, Disable, Knock, and Slow effects. For instance, you will be slowed less by Tractor Beams, your ship will not be pushed, or 'knocked' as far by Tractor Beam Repulsors or Photonic Shockwave, and your ship subsystems will be disabled for significantly shorter durations when affected by Viral Matrix, Charged Particle Burst, or Tricobalt Devices.
Effectively this skill is akin to having a virtual anchor in space resisting unwanted movement or inertial forces from sources other than the Starship's own Engines.
This skill's main benefits are realised in PvP, since NPC 'crowd control' attacks such as those described above are infrequent and rarely deadly. This skill is rendered even more situational by the fact that most Captains will have an 'escape' ability available to them, such as Polarize Hull or Attack Pattern Omega which entirely neutralize (temporarily) the majority of these attacks, giving the player the opportunity to escape and regroup.
