The Research Science Vessel is a available at rank (Tier 3). All three classes of the Research Science Vessel are very distinct in appearance. They have, unlike most vessels, a spherical main hull rather than the typical saucer style and their pylons which lead to the nacelles are connect to the fore section of the secondary hull in an up-swept fashion. The nacelles are also very long, typically spanning the full length of the secondary hull.

Olympic class

The was initially designed as a hospital ship capable of warp 13, but was refitted for service in general scientific missions. The Olympic class is the smallest of the three Research Science Vessels by default. This class of ship is used by the .

[] Hope class

Hope class
The hope class is the only one of the three that doesn't have a fully spherical main hull. The main hull has been compressed on the sides giving more of a yo-yo appearance. Its secondary hull follows the same compressed design.

[] Horizon class

Horizon class
The Horizon class Research Vessel has a unique shielded area of its primary hull. The section of the ship will glow in a pulse fashion from blue to white. It has a fairly curved secondary hull and is much larger at the aft section than the fore, giving a head-neck-body appearance.

[] Performance

Like other science vessels, the Research Science Vessel performs well in the role of support. It can be used to knock out enemy systems using its built-in abilities. In terms of weaponry slots the ship remains competitive against enemy vessels and other tier Starfleet ships with its 3 fore and 2 rear weapon slots. Its one engineering and one tactical console does impact the ship however given the array of very helpful consoles available to players in those two areas.

The ship is quite maneuverable for its size although still lags behind that of the Escort even with extra turn rates from an engineering console and extra power to its Auxiliary .

[] Standard Configuration

Federation come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.

[] Abilities

Federation Science vessels come with built-in abilities. These abilities do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Science starships and must be gained through .

After activating a subsystem targeting ability, the player will have 30 seconds to attack an enemy ship with any form of beam weapon. The attack will lower power to that system, and have a small chance of completely taking the system offline. If the system is taken offline it renders all abilities that use that subsystem temporarily inert. For example, if you target the shields and subsequently take them offline, then all of the enemies shield facings will go down.

The Sensor Analysis passive ability grants the player a stacking damage bonus of 3.33% per minute against a single target whilst the player maintains target lock on an enemy. Once the player switches targets the bonus is reset.
