Plasma Torpedo Launchers are torpedo based weapons available for all faction starships. They have a 90° firing arc. Plasma Torpedoes are primarily used by the Romulan, Reman, The Borg and The Undine.

Plasma Torpedo Launchers are not available to players before Mk IV.

Plasma kinetic weapons have a 33% chance to apply a Plasma Fire DoT.

Heavy Plasma Torpedoes

When using the ability "Torpedo: High Yield", instead of firing multiple standard torpedoes, Plasma Torpedo Launchers will fire one single "Heavy Plasma Torpedo" that, if it hits the target, does massive damage. However, it travels much slower than a standard torpedo, and is destructable.

Players and NPC ships can shoot down an incoming Heavy Torpedo, and an Automated Defense Battery console can shoot them down automatically. This is very useful as a defensive upgrade when fighting Romulan or Reman NPCs during the Commander-level sections of the game, as well as Borg NPCs during Special Task Force missions.

Modifiers

There are several factors that can affect weapon performance. These include modifier suffixes, weapon power, spent player skill points, consoles, and equipment set bonuses.

Modifier Suffix

Uncommon Plasma Torpedo Launchers will have one modifier suffix, Rare will have two and Very Rare will have three. The same modifiers may appear multiple times (e.g. [Acc]x2, [Cap]x3, etc.).

	Rule 62 Multipurpose Combat Console	+11% Mine and Torpedo Damage.

Notes

• Although this weapon contains the title Plasma, it's main damage type is Kinetic. For increasing damage resistance to plasma torpedos, players should use one of the Alloy consoles that boost damage resistance to Kinetic-based weapons, eg. [Console - Engineering - Monotanium Alloy].

• Using the following consoles will not grant any damage resistance to any torpedo hits, however it will grant some resistance to the Plasma fire damage proc.
