The Obelisk Carrier is a Rear Admiral (Tier 5) engineering-centric carrier with very high hull strength and an abundant amount of seating for engineering bridge officers and engineering consoles. Among the largest playable starships in Star Trek Online, this hulking carrier comes equipped with Obelisk Swarmer hangar pets in its two hangar bays.
The Obelisk Carrier was a reward for completing the “Sphere of Influence” feature episode prior to December 5, 2013. After this time, it became available for purchase to members of Fleets having completed Tier 1 of the main track of the Fleet Spire Outpost.
This strange and powerful ship is from an ancient culture that has had limited contact with the Alpha Quadrant. Although the ship is not Elachi in design, it shares enough similarities with their technology to have a common origin.
This ship can launch attack wings of Obelisk Swarmers in its standard configuration, though other craft can be equipped to be launched. The carrier can also give commands to those craft to order them to attack or defend selected targets. Advanced and Elite versions of these fighters, which can be equipped on any ship with a hangar bay, can be purchased by advancing the Spire Fleet Holding.
The Obelisk Carrier is, as of Season 7 and 8, the largest carrier in the game, larger even than the Atrox and Vo'quv Carriers and only smaller than the largest warbirds (which only exceed the Obelisk's size by virtue of their wide wingspans). It has a similarly low level of maneuvrability, though a considerable part of its damage output will come from its hangar complement.
Unlike most other carriers, the Obelisk heavily favors Engineering bridge seating over Science, with Commander and Lieutenant-level Engineering Bridge slots (the lieutenant slot is universal on the Advanced version). By contrast, it only has a Lieutenant Commander-level Science slot, precluding it from wielding the most powerful science abilities. It also has limited tactical options due to its single Lieutenant tactical slot, though the universal Ensign slot can be used to bring it on par with the Atrox.

 Standard Configuration
Carrier starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.
Carriers come with built-in abilities. These abilities do not automatically rank up.
- Beam Target Auxiliary Subsystems I
- Beam Target Weapons Subsystems I
- Beam Target Engines Subsystems I
- Beam Target Shields Subsystems I
After activating a subsystem targeting ability, the player will have 30 seconds to attack an enemy ship with any form of beam weapon. The attack will lower power to that system, and have a small chance of completely taking the system offline. If the system is taken offline it renders all abilities that use that subsystem temporarily inert. For example, if you target the shields and subsequently take them offline, then all of the enemies shield facings will go down.
