In The Return the player catches a Romulan crew red-handed experimenting with Borg technology. While fighting off the Collective armada an unexpected ally turns the tides.

[edit] Synopsis

Romulans, Borg and a previously unseen power struggle in the Burgus system.

The player is ordered to the Burgus System to investigate reports of Borg activity. The crew arrives just in time to prevent the assimilation and/or destruction of several Romulan ships. Commander Taelus of the I.R.W. Areinnye hails the player saying the Borg have beamed aboard her ship, and pleads for assistance.

The player beams aboard to eliminate the Borg attempting to assimilate the Areinnye's' crew, only to discover that Taelus has captured Borg technology, with the intent of securing it for Romulus. Taelus angrily demands her ship to be left alone and the player returns to their own ship to deal with a Borg armada now bearing down on both vessels. The Romulan ship escapes while the player faces a hopeless battle. Suddenly, the unidentified vessel encountered in the mission “Taris” reappears, destroys the Borg vessels and vanishes after sending a cryptic message: "Look upon us and tremble".
