Federation[ | ]

<rank>, we have an opportunity to solve one of the greatest mysteries of the past decade.

Six years ago, the U.S.S. Rapier was on its first mission – a routine trip through the wormhole to survey several planets in the Gamma Quadrant. It entered the wormhole and was never heard from again.

Starfleet believed the ship had been destroyed but several hours ago we picked up an emergency distress signal on a frequency that corresponds with the Rapier. We have to investigate.

Your top priority is to rescue any survivors that might be on board, but the Rapier is special. She's the first of her class, and she has technology on board that is the basis for much of what Starfleet uses today. If she were to fall into enemy hands the damage to Starfleet would be significant.

If you find the Rapier, try to bring her home. But I'd rather have her destroyed than in Dominion hands.

Normally I'd send a Starfleet vessel to respond to the distress call, but this is a great opportunity for cooperation. This is a chance for your people to learn more about the Bajoran wormhole – the only stable wormhole in the quadrant – and a show of great trust: Starfleet Command knows that if the Rapier's technology fell into the wrong hands, it could hurt war efforts, but they're still willing to entrust this mission to you.

If you find the Rapier, try to bring her home. But I'd rather have her destroyed than in Dominion hands.

Romulan Republic (Klingon-aligned)[ | ]

<rank>, now that I have access to some of the communications traffic from Deep Space 9, I have learned of an intriguing Federation secret.

Six years ago, the U.S.S. Rapier was on its first mission - a routine trip through the wormhole to survey several planets in the Gamma Quadrant. It entered the wormhole and was never heard from again.

Starfleet believed the ship had been destroyed, but this station recently picked up an emergency distress signal on a frequency that corresponds with the Rapier. It is possible the ship is still intact, either in the Gamma Quadrant or perhaps inside the wormhole itself.

As you might expect, the Rapier carried many new innovations in its design, as it was a new ship at the time of its launch. If you can find the Rapier before Starfleet does, this will provide an excellent chance for both of our people to gain useful knowledge of modern Federation ship designs and technology.

The Romulan people have a reputation for subterfuge. Perhaps this is an opportunity for you to turn that reputation into a positive one.

Goal[ | ]

Investigate the distress signal in the Bajoran wormhole, located near Deep Space 9 in the Bajor Sector of the Beta Ursae Sector Block, and search for the U.S.S. Rapier.

  • The wormhole is located in the Deep Space Nine "System". If you check the area map, the location of the wormhole is indicated by a circle and it will open (i.e. become visible) when you approach it.
  • The wormhole contains instances of Hexafluorine Gas, Hydrazine Gas and Magnesite.
