[edit] Akira class
The Akira class Heavy Escort closely resembles the Enterprise from the TV series Star Trek: Enterprise. The reason is the Akira was used as partially for inspiration when the NX-01 was being designed[1]. It is the most popular of the three Heavy Escort classes. Ships of the class include the U.S.S. Kelvin and U.S.S. Thunderchild (NCC-63549).
[edit] Oslo class
The Oslo class Heavy Escort is an upgraded and modified version of the earlier Norway class ship. It shares the same nacelle design as the Nova Class Science Vessel.[edit] Zephyr class
The Zephyr class Heavy Escort is an upgraded and modified version of the earlier Steamrunner class ship.[edit] Thunderchild class
The Thunderchild class Heavy Escort is a tribute to the U.S.S. Thunderchild (NCC-63549) which engaged the Borg in Sector 001. This ship comes equipped with a [Console - Universal - Point Defense System]. This console activates an automated Phaser Turret Point Defense System designed to defend the vessel from small craft, mines and targetable torpedoes, but that will also target larger vessels as well. This class is unlocked from the C-Store for 1000[edit] Performance
The Heavy Escort is the second tier of Tactical Escorts in the game. This type of escort loses a point in maneuverability but gains hull strength to make up for it. The ship also gains an aft weapon slot allowing for rear torpedo attacks. As a result, the ship is very deadly to enemies during that phase of the game when equipped appropriately.
Compared to the Heavy Escort, the Refit has an additional Engineering Console slot, and a Lieutenant Tactical station in place of an Ensign Tactical station.
