Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit
The Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit is an Admiral (Tier 5) level Federation Escort vessel. Players can obtain the vessel through the Shipyard for 20,000
and 4
, as long as the player's Fleet has a Tier III shipyard.
This particular type of ship class was a rescued project from the Utopia Planetia Ship Yards by Captain Benjamin Sisko. It was declared a new type of warship created to fight the Borg but later revived to fight the Dominion War. This Retrofit vessel is a heavily modified variant of the Tactical Escort (Tier 4) Escort Vessel. Starfleet upgraded this vessel with latest standard equipment and systems available in the early 25th century.
The Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit is also able to use the [Console - Universal - Cloaking Device] that is obtained from the Tactical Escort Retrofit, or the Federation Dreadnought Cruiser. This ship does not come with one standard. As with other C-Store ships ships, the previous purchase of the Tactical Escort Retrofit from the Cryptic Store reduces the required Fleet Ship Module cost for its Fleet version from 4 to 1.

[edit] Variants
[edit] Defiant class
The mighty Defiant class was the first of new Tactical Escort designs specifically created to fight the Borg. The project which was stationed at Utopia Planitia and prototyped by a team that included young Benjamin Sisko ultimately failed due latent design flaws. At the request of the DS9 Commander, the ship and its plans was removed from storage and its flaws corrected. The class design later entered production due to the Dominion threat.[edit] Vigilant class
Vigilant was a design inspired by the Defiant class. Just as powerful and nimble but with an updated nacelle design. The Vigilant was also equipped with a multipurpose space that is adaptable to any situation including relaxation or training.[edit] Gallant class
Launched in response to the fallout from the Khitomer Accords in 2399, the Gallant class was born. These ships were made to fight on the front lines of Borg conflict. Gallant is a variant of Defiant, just as capable and bares just as many teeth.NOTE: This ship design was based on an early concept drawing of the Defiant that was rejected because it looked too much like a 50's sci-fi UFO, and nothing like the warship "hotrod" that was expected.
[edit] Sao Paulo class
The Sao Paulo class is a 25th century refit of the famed Defiant class. It has exposed, forward-swept warp nacelles and a more faceted main deflector. It also has the white hull texture common to refit vessels. This class is unlocked with the purchase of the Tactical Escort Refit for 1,500
from the C-Store.
[edit] Performance
The Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit is one the most agile of all Starfleet vessels outside runabouts and shuttles. Equipped with four forward weapon slots and three aft, they are true powerhouses of damage. However the class suffers from very small crew complement (half as many as the previous tier) and limited console slots to improve survivability. It is also one of two ships with five Tactical consoles the other being the Fleet Advanced Escort. It should be noted that this ship does have one more engineering console which may help improve survivability to some degree. At Tier 5, the Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit is as close to a Klingon Bird-of-Prey as any Starfleet captain can get.
