The constant conflict with the Borg takes its toll in the assimilation of countless members of both the Federation and the Klingon Empire - but, from time to time, a survivor is liberated from the Collective. Liberated Borg officers retain some of the Borg neural suppressants and the characteristic efficiency of the Borg (a melee-range toxin that slows enemies, and a bonus to ship power levels in space).
