Strike Wing Escorts are a type of playable starship. Based on Escort frames, they possess a single hangar bay allowing them to launch Hangar Pets, but are faster and more maneuverable than the larger dual-hangar Carriers. Like Escorts, they may equip Dual Cannons, Dual Heavy Cannons and Quad Cannons, and possess an Experimental Weapon slot and the Escort Starship Mastery package. Strike Wing Escort generally possess 2 device slots and gain a bonus +15 weapons power, though some have 3 device slots and/or different power configurations.
Their Klingon Defense Force counterparts are known as Flight-Deck Raptors, while their Romulan Republic counterparts are known as Tactical Carrier Warbirds. Their Engineering-focused counterparts are known as Dreadnought Cruisers, while their Science-focused counterparts are known as Multi-Mission Science Vessels. Strike Wing Escorts were formerly known as Escort Carriers and had their own Starship Mastery package but were renamed for clarity as they only possess a single hangar bay.

Starfleet Heavy Strike Wing Escort[ | ]
When Starfleet first retrofitted the Akira class, they were still unhappy with the end product. Improving it further, the Armitage class is designed to fit the original role meant for the Akira class: that of a small carrier-escort hybrid. It is also able to acts as a torpedo boat.
The Armitage boosts good maneuverability, typical with all Federation Escort and is well suited to delivering frontal-fire using Dual Heavy Cannons and Torpedo Launchers, unlike standard carriers. It can act as a torpedo boat capable of presenting large torpedo volleys to the front or rear arcs; combined with the Photon Torpedo Point Defense System, this can create significant burst damage against multiple targets.
