The Torpedo Point Defense System is a universal console included with the Armitage Class Heavy Escort Carrier. It enables the bound ability Torpedo Point Defense System which attacks up to eight enemies within 10km, firing a salvo of six photon torpedoes for around 1,318 kinetic damage each.

Unlike the Point Defense System included with the Thunderchild escort, the torpedo point defense system's shots fired are dependent upon the number of nearby enemies. As a result, if there are less than eight enemies nearby then it will not fire the maximum number of torpedoes, wasting some of the system's destructive potential. Once used the ability has a lengthy three minute cooldown, as such the ability requires careful timing for maximum effect, however when combined with a Torpedo: Spread a ship can use the point defense system as well to deliver a devastating salvo that can be especially effective against clustered enemies.

Since the point defense system is an ability rather than a weapon, it only requires the use of a free console slot (of any type), allowing a ship to effectively deliver two torpedo salvos while only mounting a single forward or rear torpedo launcher. It will however require the use of either generic Warhead Yield Chambers or a focus on photon projectiles in order to gain the maximum damage bonus. When used for point defense this weapon is unparalleled at stopping unshielded projectiles such as high yield torpedoes and mines, and deals enough damage to destroy most fighters outright.
