The Monotanium Alloy is a Engineering Console that improves resistance against kinetic damage, which is primarily caused by torpedoes and mines.
Unlike the other alloys listed below, this protects only against kinetic damage and is available at all mark levels. The other alloys protect against kinetic and energy damage, but have half the resistance bonus to each.
